Best way to do Mud/Snow/Sand

Not a mix of the two, but separately. Ive seen the pre made packages, but I was thinking like glue with materials mixed.

Looking for an inexpensive route to doing plenty of bases.

Ive seen a few tutorials, but nothing strikes me.

I want them in piles like in Soviet Winter, or in a Jungle, or on a beach, etc.

To an extent but more like the base has earth, and then on top mounds of snow, or snow cover on rocks, gravel, dirt, tundra, etc.

mixing flock,wood scenics etc, with similar colored paint.

i used white flock with white or off color paint for snow. worked well, blot it on with a blister foam or sponge. dripping realistic water type materials onto that works well afterwards.
