Another game to try

Postby CmdrVimes » Sun Mar 02, 2014 9:20 am

Played my first game of Bolt Action. Very nice game. Simple basic rules with well balanced armies that should put emphasis on strategy. A unique turn sequence. A familiar feel as well since the rules were written by refugees from GW.

I agree, if you are into historical wargaming, it's a lot of fun.

yeah. I've got a bunch of BA stuff I'm working up, 2 platoons worth of late war US troops, a box of Perry Desert Rats + support that's applicable to the Desert (waiting on the new Perry Desert Rats 2 pounder to come out), and Perry Deutche Afrika Korps that's also in progress with a tank available for pretty much any period of the desert.

I've got a Company of German Wehrmacht painted. Also have some 1/48th scale German Armor I can bring if needed. Is the 1/48th scale Armor playable in Bolt Action?

255 bases/trays
10 Demons
74 Astra Militarum/Militarum Tempestus
68 Grey Knights/Inquisition

1/48 scale is actually closer to the 28mm that Bolt Action is than the 1/56 scale that Warlord sells for their armor. All my non US armor is 1/48 scale outside of a pair of Bren Carriers which are Warlord.

I just got back from a trip to Phoenix were a friend was running a 2-day "GT Style" tournament. It was great fun and I'm really enjoying the Bolt Action games. I've played 8 games total now and enjoyed each one! I've got some pictures of my army on my blog (in my signature line)

There are a couple Bolt Action events at Adepticon this year and I know the Sunday tournament is already sold out. It does look like interest in this game is growing.

There are a couple other Bolt Action threads in the "Warhammer Ancient Battles" sub-forum here on the AWC site. Sort of a misnamed now as its been a general catch all for Historical gaming.
