Too tall for the table?

Postby Tskruse » Sun Aug 25, 2013 12:18 am

Hey everyone, just need some input on a daemon prince that I converted that originally a display model but now I want to bring it to the table.

The problem is the base is nearly 3" tall and I'm not sure how that would be receive at an AWC tourney or something. I suppose if anything It puts me at a disadvantage, not being able to hide as well.

Anyway here's a link to some pictures......

I would not have any problem with the model.

It is more a detriment to you, since its harder for you to hide the model being so high up.

That's what I figured I'll see how things go after a few games and maybe alter it if its a big problem.

Another question: I'm working on a Bloodthirster conversion using the Ghorgon model as the base kit. It's slightly too large to fit on the large circular base could I get away with bumping it up to a large oval/ flyer base? This would be similar to the forge world Bloodthirster in size, which is.much larger than the GW one.

I think as long as the size is similar and not changed in a way to benefit you, it's generally ok.

Base size, however, is a bigger deal. If possible I would put it on the properly sized base.

It's like the same thing with the both the GW and the FW avatar. The FW Avatar I believe is on a 60mm where as the GW one is on the 40mm, and it's the same unit. I've been browsing forums and it seems like it's the opposite. It's okay to go large and there's allegedly a place in the rulebook(wasn't sure of the age of the post either) that says that but who know.

It's a Bloodthirster and they don't have any rules that affect number of models touching their base so I'm at a disadvantage again by having a model that is taller than the actual model.

I guess the best thing that I can do is bring an actual Bloodthirster and just swap it out if someone has a problem.

I just started painting it though and I'll have pictures up when it's finished.
