2800 AoA2 EIR list

Postby Lordgoober » Thu Feb 23, 2012 6:26 pm

Ok. I'm possibly going to be joining in the WAB singles this year depending on how things go with the painting. Right now this is the potential list. It represents a siege army so to speak of Early Imperial Romans. Note this list is using the added units that were included in the FAQ for representing hired barbarians.

General: 152

Army Standard Bearer: 109

20 Elite Legionaries: Full Command: 500
20 Seasoned Legionaries: Full Command: 360

20 Auxiliaries: Full Command, Drilled: 280 Not sure on whether to go with Throwing or Thrusting Spears on these guys

10 Skirmishers: Slings, Musician: 75
10 Skirmishers: Slings, Musician: 75
10 Skirmishers: Bows, Musician: 85
Heavy Bolt Thrower: 42
Heavy Bolt Thrower: 42
Stone Thrower: 62
12 Equites Alares: Drilled, Full Command: 339

2795 points

Opinions? In order to finish this list I'll need to buy another box of Auxiliaries.

You don't need the musician in the skirmish units - there is no +1 to rally in WAB like there is in WFB.

How are you going to rank up the units? I prefer 6x3, which would shave a few figures off of each unit. You might be able to build out 1 more skirmishing unit. Speaking of skirmishers, they add valuable shooting but are vulnerable to panic.

I like the Thrusting spears over throwing spears - many battles drag on for a few rounds & the extra attacks add up over time.

ok. I had misread the skirmishing rules then. I thought you needed the musicians to march in WAB2 for skirmishers as well as regular blocks.

I was planning on going 5x4 for my bricks. I can do a little tweaking around with those bricks to take em to 6x3. That being said I don't ahve any more skirmishers but I do have another 12 cavalry that I can work with.

with the models I own (outside of the 1 unit of auxiliaries I'm going to buy) I can do this and it might work a bit better.

Well, after buying another auxiliary box I ended up hitting a $20 certificate for G+ so I ended up getting a blister of 8 roman archers so I might try using a small unit of them. Or I might order a third auxiliary command blister and go with 3 units of 18 auxiliaries (which means I have to try to get a particular infernal sculpt to actually rank up)

Your post/list has made me think about checking out some of the AoA v2 lists then...your list is very nice indeed. Also, I'm with Rich on the thrusting spears for the auxiliaries.

Rich...when do we have to have AoA v2 lists to you by?

Here's my most recent version of the list. just trying different things here and there. If it wasn't for the fact that one of the warlord sculpts for the auxiliaries on foot is a bloody nightmare to try to rank up with the others, I'd order a 3rd command blister and try going 3 legionary units and 3 foot auxiliary units.

Players using the AoA lists need to get me their lists by 4-1-2012. Lists can be sent to AdepticonWAB@gmail.com & please don't forget the .72 point conversion.

Thanks for the reply Rich. So, just so I'm clear, my AoA v2 list needs to be at or under 2000 points after I multiply the AoA v2 costs by .72, correct?

2800 x .72 = 2016, where as 2778 x .72 = 2000

no. that .72 is there for scoring purposes. The list is 2800. So if they actually wipe you to the man they get a slight vp bonus.

LG has it correct. The .72 conversion is only for figuring victory points when a AoA list has to play vs a traditional list.
