ForgeWorld - Question

Postby caballan » Thu Feb 02, 2012 6:41 pm

I noticed that Forge World is coming as a vendor. Is there an advantage to buying their models at the convention instead of from their website? I am debating if I should try to get a brood horror before so that I can get it painted before hand or if I should wait to get it at the convention?

Also, I was not ready for a tournament, so I didn't want to sign up for one. Do people do pick-up matches for fantasy though? Trying to figure out if I should bring my army even though I am not in a tournament.

Any help is great, thanks!

Well, if you buy it at the convention, you don't have to pay shipping. Of course, that's not much of an advantage if you have some way of avoiding that already (Like, buying $400 or so worth, or ordering at the bunker).

If you get it beforehand, you can paint it beforehand, and use it at the con.

Really, that's about the difference.

Shipping is certain the “big” thing. However, couple other things are nice .. You get to inspect it before you buy it. If you have dealt with miscast resin in the past, seeing it before hand is nice perk.

Also, from our standpoint, the higher the sales numbers Forgeworld sees generated from attending events like AdeptiCon the better the chances Forgeworld will see the value it being involved not only in AdeptiCon but in events like AdeptiCon. Which translates to support ( prizes, cool swag, exclusives etc.. ), which translates to benefits to our attendees. So while for the individual sale the “benefits” might not be all that significant over mail order. It is a pretty important deal for AdeptiCon and for events like us.
So I highly encourage folks to pre-order for pick up at AdeptiCon.

Anything you want in particular, you should DEFINITELY preorder for pickup at Adepticon.

I emailed Forgeworld to see if they planned to bring any Warhammer Historical books this year. This was the response (which is better than last year for sure):

"We may be bringing some Warhammer Historical books but we would recommend reserving any that you need as some of the stocks are dwindling."

I posted this in the WAB forum as I figure some of those players might want to reserve something. My hope is, if they get some reservations, that might promt them to bring additional product for the impulse shopper.

Tim, I wish you were coming. You could contact them and do a book signing! (I should have had you sign mine years ago though) :)
