I had issue with Lurtz's profile being defense 5 but having a shield listed as his wargear, not as an option to purchase. All other Uruk-Hai captains begin with defense 5 and do not have shields or the option to get one (save for the generic captain). Shouldn't Lurtz's defense then be 6 automatically in the profile?

And just as a gripe, will they EVER give Theoden, King of Rohan and savior of Gondor some respect by way of a kick-butt special rule? SOMETHING to make him cool enough to field? Anything? Buehler? Buehler?

No, because he also has an orc bow. No, you cannot drop the orc bow.

Ah, that does make sense. It is unfortunate, however, due to his bow just being a regular orc bow. I'd rather he have the higher defense. Too bad they didn't make his bow Str. 3 or 4, even if it made him a tad more costly. Thanks for the reply and clarification.

Lurtz has always been problematic for players. On the other hand he can shield and that is a useful thing to be able to do when you are surrounded.

Yes, agreed, but outside of the additional Might point, it is a hard case to add him vs. a generic captain. As a theme player who likes the iconic characters, I just had hoped they would have made more changes to those characters to make them stand out...and some they did I"ll admit. Thranduil rocks.

But we digress from the point of this post of FAQs...thanks again for the reply.

Another question with respect to the "To the Death" banner question. Corsair Bosuns count as banners for Corsairs models. Do they count for the banner victory points?

The previous FAQs said yes. Living banners in my opinion are still banners. So the Golden King, Amdur, etc ... are banners.

This is really a problem for new players, but Dwarf Bows are no longer defined in the game. They don't have an entry in the Rulebook and I can't find any reference to them as 18" eleven bows in the Free Peoples book. At least dwarf longbows are defined in parenthesis as bows.

Orcs war riders no longer have the crude spear rule. They keep their throwing spears once they are dismounted. The special rule is not under either Mordor or Isengard war riders anymore.

Did anyone notice that no units in the Isengard list can have Horns now? Not that you see them very often, but Not a single unit appears to have that option anymore.

OK. More questions on the Fallen Realms sourcebook:

Siege Weapons: Is the correct understanding on Siege weapons that you take a hero, add the Siege weapon to the Hero's warband and then the models added as part of siege weapon are used to fill the up to 12 warriors? I believe this is correct, but that if you take a siege weapon and upgrade it's options with a Engineer Captain, it then would become a warband unto itself with the engineer captain as the leader(allowing for 12 other models??)

Please confirm that nderstanding, or if I am incorrect, please expain it so I understand how they work for army creation.

Additionally:
Mumak crew. Is the crew for the mumak included in the price of the mumak or or do you pay the price for the crew seerate by choice of model type?

Easterling War Drum. What the heck is this? I cannot find rules for this in the sourcebook, so is this the Easterling version of a Horn, or is this some sort of Easterling version of the Orc drums that increase movement? Please let me know where this item is shown what it does. Thanks.

Kingdoms of Man: Riders of the Dead. They have shields in their profile and are D7 while the Army of the Dead are D7 in their profile and have the OPTION to buy a shield to make them D8.

The shields are a new option to the army of the dead. The odds are that these options were forgotten with the riders of the dead. Another question is what is the defense of the rider's mount? By the rules they ride horses and thus are defense four instead of defense six or seven like the riders themselves. After all the horse is dead too.
