Standard Army Size for Warhammer

Guys - I saw this post from a long time back. As I'm just getting into Fantasy, what is the normal size for games? For 40k I'm used to 1,850.

It's because people want to take lords/heroes that are more than 500 points in tournaments.

That would depend on what you're looking to do. If you want to play competitively 2400 pts is the most common, although there are tournaments that range from 1600 to 3000. If you looking to play for fun any points size is fine. Most of the fantasy players will adjust to play any size game.
