I have most of an Imperial City, the splash release from when the 40k buildings were new, sitting unused. Most of the sections are scale independent enough to use as Epic terrain (gotta give up on the Manufactorum doors, though). Of course, the 40k buildings will only be useful for large open spaces, smaller spaces will need to be scratch built. So, given these constraints, what do you, as the Chicago Specialist Games Club, prefer in your urban terrain?
1) Intact or Ruined buildings? This will have a large effect on speed of production, of course. Ruined buildings need cut out windows instead of just frames, and need internal structure besides simple supports. This is more of a concern in scratch built parts as the GW stuff would be expected to have minimal internal structure.
2) Maximum dimensions? Probably under 26cm x 13cm, but I can be persuaded. Those are the dimensions of the XL Baseplate from S6 Engineering, whose site is unfortunately down right now. They are making some awesome stuff though.
3) My scratch builds seem to lean into the modern office/industrial feel, but I think with the right accessories, that can be changed without having to cut out gothic arches everywhere. Hopefully that works out for everyone.
Suggestions and comments are welcome.
