Teams were sorted alphabetically by captain's email address (there were 82 teams at this point). Then I generated a set of random sequential numbers at random.org (like this). I then assigned those numbers top to bottom to the alpha by email list, sorted so the numbers were in order and paired 1 & 2, 3 & 4, etc.

Round 2-Ork Horde+Lash Chaos

Invitational
Round 1-Nob Bikers
Round 2-Dual lash Chaos
Round 3-Lash Chaos+Abaddon

So to add it up, my weekend was spent playing-
6 Chaos armies (4 with single lash, 2 with double lash)
5 Orks (4 Nob Bikers+ 1 Horde)
3 Demon armies
1 Space Marine LR spam

Ouch! I am sorry you had bad luck with matchups. I am more of a painter, so I just do my little army and play with my friends in the TT, but both the TT and the 40K Singles have just become other Gladiator-lite events. I would love to see some more mellow, less power-gamery armies showing up at A-con.

Definitely not judge the painting while games are being played. Can't reiterate that enough. I have a feeling we lost some valuable points in the Fantasy Team Tournament because I couldn't just pull my living models off of the table to show the paint judges in the middle of a tough match. I know this is rough because of the number of people and the time crunch and all, but those that do get judged with their armies set up are always going to have a better presentation than those that don't.

I was wondering if there was ever any talk about making the Fantasy Team Tournament a 4-person team event? I believe there were 87 teams this year, which is a huge number and a large increase over last year. The tournament would probably have to be moved to a different day I think, but I think it would be a really great change.

I didn't see the lack of diversity as much as others I guess.

Here's what I and my team faced:

Gladiator - I played Nurgle Chaos with 1 Lash sorcerer - no Superheavy

Rd1 - Chaos with Warhound
Rd2 - Chaos Demons with Angorroth/Fateweaver
Rd3 - Marines/DH with Reaver
Rd4 - Guard

Team Tourney - Ultramarine Land Raider Spam

Rd1 - Marine/WH/Guard
RD2 - Chaos Marines
Rd3 - Demons/chaos Marine/Orks
Rd4 - Ultramarines

Championship - Back to my Nurgle - straight up - no sorcerer

Rd1 - Witch Hunters
Rd2 - Chaos
Rd3 - Orks

back to 2010 suggestions.

I know something like adepticon is a big marketing venue for tons of vendors, but maybe limiting the paper work in the grab bags? maybe having a large section near registration where people could come pick-up what interested them...

"hey, I need something that I can make molds on xyz"

"well, step this way, Smooth-On Inc is a great company, and has exactly what you are looking for, take a look at this flyer."

I know that 99% of the paper work in my bag got tossed.

or for instance, the space marine energy drink flyer, maybe just have a large poster by the bar that was serving it?
