Hey, there you go. There were 9 players this year, 12 last year (right?) 3 of us didn't come because of the date...heh, we all might be the only ones who play BFG in the country 8) . Or at least those that can show up easily enough...

I couldn't make it this year because it was on Friday (that and money issues, but mainly because of the date); it's probably the worst possible day for me, being a student.

I talked to a couple people today who play BFG. They couldn't make it because they had to work.

They want me to get into the game. I might. If I do, it will depend on when the tournament falls, maybe I'll jump in too.
It's only about painting now.

THere were 4 for the epic. 3 locals (Chad, Young Bill and one who's name is escaping me) and an out of towner (I think from colorado) with 3 of them playing Eldar (the out of towner with a really beatstick list.) Not sure who won.

That being said based on teh feedback from the players this year we're looking at probably keeping the gothic on the Friday (but starting earlier since we got rushed at the end by the event staff in the main room wanting to do awards at 10pm...) and moving the epic to another day (which would have been fine with the players who were there but we couldn't do anything because of the very late drop of the original event runner.) Next year I'm planning on running both events so we won't have that conflict.

These both strike me as funny....since Adepticon is enough of an "Event" that one can arrange to be off from work or school FAR ahead of time.

I myself took 3 days of leave from work to attend over the weekend. If you REALLY want to make the tournement...you can, its not like they schedule it "all of a sudden". You've got literally, months to arrange to be excused from work. I work in a job where if a hurricane hits town...I cannot leave if I want to keep my job. So, to me "I couldnt make it because of work/school" directly translates into "the tournament wasnt important enough for me to arrange to go"....which is ok too.

That being said, I'm gratified to see that next year gothic will be on Friday once again, rather than moving it to a less convenient day for MYSELF in order to get players that are less willing to make plans and arrange to be there when the tournament isnt that important to them in the first place.

If you want to attend....ATTEND! If you'd rather work/study....thats cool too.

I for one will be there.

Yep. When we were making the scheduling for this year, I made the switch to Friday because I figured I could get more people in because BFG plays better when you aren't completely beer addled. It will stay there.

That being said, results have been given to Rich to be put on the website soon.

As a note, next year I'm going to push for a "Missed it by that much" as the difference between the Best Overall and the next person was HALF a point and he missed the Best General by 2 points.

LOL...I could give myself more headaches than it's worth trying to earn my Masters, but what's real life matter, right? It's all about the GAME! 8)

Any chance you (Goober) could send along this year's scenarios? Or are they as posted in previous threads? I might want to try them out.

I'm already announcing my stepping up to run both next year and we'll probably attempt to start the gothic a little earlier than 3pm since most of the guys were showing up around 12:30 :)

....haha, because its absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to get a day off from school and not miss out on anything. No college kids anywhere take days off.

Actually it's true. One is extremely lucky to even get religious days off. Mostly that never happens. Anyway, if people could just drink less, they'd be fine for Sunday gaming, as that's the only complaint I've seen for Sundays  8) .

How many people did play this year?

Another reason for playing in the Gothic Tournement is the fact that the Gladiator isnt everyone's cup of tea. I heard that twice and once from myself. That gives you something to do on Friday. However, many people who play gothic are also into 40k (imagine that). Having the tournament on Friday allows those people to play in the championship...a series of normal games of 40k that you dont have to dump 800 dollars on a model in order to take part in.

About 10 people played.

Having BFG on Friday allows people to play in yet another normal RTT. Oh joy?

I'm amused by your attempts to NOT play in a 40K tournament. Why don't the two of you just give in and come play BFG, EPIC, WAB, LOTR all weekend. :D

I like 40k. I like WHFB. I like BFG.

Given my druthers, I'd skip the "normal" 40k tournament, in favor of BFG. The Gladiator I find to be highly amusing, and (more importantly) it gets my mind in the "right" place before the Team Tournament on Saturday.

Unfortunately, given that BFG is apparently destined to be a Friday event for the indefinite future, that means I have to skip it.
