I agree with Blackmoor All the armies were the same. My idea for the invitational is that you have to bring an 1850 army and switch with your opponent. Or even just given a random army. You would have to play three different games with all kinds of lists. That would give you best player in the tourney.

It was my first year at Adepticon and overall I had a great time. I played the Combat Patrol Friday and 40k Championship Sunday.

My only gripe was with the Combat patrol. It seems it was pretty disorganized and giving no time to get to a table and set up with 45 minute rounds made it stressful. The only scenario I had a problem with was the 2nd round of Combat Patrol with the modified Dawn of War placing all units off the board in normal reserves. It made the game more a game of luck on what got onto the board then any skill involved. Most people I spoke with afterward didn't even play turn one it just went right to turn 2.

My opponents were

CP1 - IG
CP2 - Orks
CP3 - Chaos

CT1 - Chaos
CT2 - Black Templar
CT3 - SM

While I'd love to play in a tournament that did this, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable allowing someone else to run my models...

Besides, if you knew it was a tournament where you'd trade armies with your opponent, wouldn't that lead to a rather odd situation where everyone tried to make the worst army possible?

And, on the top table, we see orks with maxxed flash gitz matching up against freakshow witchhunters?

How about instead have the con provide n many identical marine armies. Provide the lists to the community ahead of time, make it a test of tactics not logistics.

How did the players react to the Adepticon Pitch? Did they like it?

I should also note that I appreciate the extra effort from Rich to personally do whatever he could to make my participants happy. I can say that every one of my players walked away happy on Sunday night.
The vet sarge says “OK, screw this!” and turns on his Powerfist again, but the guardsmen get a sudden surge of ape like strength and they bring the marine down in a hail of fists, feet, and feces.

This, in my mind, is not an argument against doing this. It's a rather compelling argument in favor of it.

If you want to see some seriously dull games, sure. There are some really really boring armies out there. Instead of a contest of trying to build the toughest army, you'll have people trying to build the worst possible armies. And, as repetitive as it might be to face chaos daemons 3 or 4 times, it has to be worse to play a whole game with nothing but guardsmen without even any weapon upgrades.

Well when I ran youngbloods I had a fun time since I've played orks twice before in my 3 year gaming history:

R1: Orks
R2: What? Oh yes, more Orks.
R3: All Nobz Orks.

Was interesting and I massacred the first two and tied the last. I think next year the rounds need another 15-30 minutes more since in the games we were a bit rushed. Over all it was sick (Especially winning best general!).
I've got nothing...

I had a better mix of opponents:

TT R1: Nurgle & Slaanesh chaos, non-lash.
TT R2: Dual Nob Biker Orks
TT R3: Grey Knights/Blood Angels
TT R4: Nurgle/Khorne Mechanized chaos

C1: Deathwing
C2: Mech/slogging mixed Orks
C3: IG

Perfectly fine by me. Great event.

I juust wanna see the points from the BFG tournament cause something just didn't seem right to me. Other then that- All of us New Orlenians had a great time dispite the many upsets from the WFB team tourney and my BFG experience.

For me I played

BFG R1- Eldar Corsair
BFG R2- Chaos Cruiser heavy
BFG R3- Tau with a metric ass ton of ordanance

WFB Champ R1- Lizardmen
WFB Champ R2- 20 Cairn Wraith Vampire Counts
WFB Champ R3- Dark Elves
WFB Champ R4- Empire

40k Champ R1- Imperial Guard
40k Champ R2- Tau
40k Champ R3- Space Marines

Overall I played against a nice balance of armies and not just the same old crap over and over.

Another big thanks to lord goober and the test crew for the BFG scenarios. They were great from bringing me back into the game!
