Venue Feedback.

This year's venue was fantastic. It seemed like we had more room between tables to move/stand/sit. The food/drinks served on site were tasty and competitively priced, and that's what my team ate all day saturday. Free parking that let you come and go as you please was a very welcome change as well. The facilities and washrooms were clean, as you'd expect from a large hotel.

Honestly, I don't have anything critical to say about the place. I hope we use it again next year.

I agree - the hotel was fabulous. One subtle element which I particularly enjoyed: the seminar rooms (which included LotR/WAB/Spec) are provided with white light. No more trying to paint or look at armies under that awful yellow light most hotel rooms use.

I agree with everything said above. The rooms were very nice, the event food was decent and not abusively priced. The halls did seem much roomier than the past few hotels, even though there were more attendees.

Nice bar onsite, close to food/supplies for those who didn't want to drive, free parking was a huge plus.

When I've got nothing to complain about, it must have been good. :)

Except for the 'no outside food/drink', but if you're too lazy to make a beer run up to the room between rounds, you aren't thirsty enough.

This was my first Adepticon and I had a great time. I didn't stay at the hotel, but I did see the rooms, and they looked nice. I thought there was plenty of room and some extra tables for open gaming which was great.

My only complaint was that the Lilac room was so far away from the main room. I think it would be better if the specialist demo games were in the same room as the main 40k room or at least have the second room somewhat closer to the main ball room.

That was my only minor complaint. Great job by the staff and the council. I'm also interested in helping out next year in some way, who do I contact?

Yeah this was the best venue by far compared to the others.

Having room in the main hall for vendors, registration and tournament administration is awesome. I couldn't imagine going back to the Marriott where all that stuff was being done in the Foyer.

I could not agree more, the hotel was awesome. I don't know how Hank got the rate we did, it was less than 1/3 of the usual price for those rooms. It cracked me up to see all these people dressed to the nines walking in and out, surrounded by hordes of tired disheveled gamers. My only complaints were that there was not a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and the announcers mic was waaaay to loud the first two days. But overall it was an amazing venue and a great weekend.

Unfortunately, the hotel has no other rooms close to the main ball room - separating the events was the only option. Clearly, the solution will be for Adepticon to take over the whole hotel next year :D If you did not notice, there is a second ball room by the seminar rooms -just perfect for WFB I think....

There was a wedding or something going on in another ballroom. At one point during the 40k TT an older gentleman wearing a suit and tie and a lei wandered into the main hall and wanted to know the history of 40k (when it was created, where it came from, etc.) We filled him in as much as we could before we got swamped by result sheets from the tables.

Heh, we were talking about the "separate ballroom for the WFB guys" back at the WFB judges table on sunday and if things go as planned, we WILL have the specialist games stuff at the back of the 40k room next year as they do need more exposure.

I have to agree about the announcers mic for the 40k section being WAY too loud. At times you had to pause your game for a few minutes so that you could hear your opponent.

That being said, I would rather drive to lombard because of the parking and restaurant situation than go back to rosemont, even though rosemont is 2 miles from my house.

The WFB contingent would be exceedingly happy to be segregated.

Top notch venue.

Although a minor detail, I was personally very fond of the hair dryers NOT attached to the wall in the hotel room. This was a huge aid to finishing up all of my last minute painting.

I actually disagree with this. Almost every person I spoke to who played in the Lilac room stated that they liked that they could actually speak without yelling. I yelled anyway but that's just because I like to be loud (and I helped run the event the first day).

I ran some demos on Sunday and I was thankful that the room was rather quiet, my voice was (and still is) destroyed by Sunday morning. If I had to yell over everyone in the hall, more than I was already yelling to keep the game exciting, I don't think I would have been audible by the third demo. I'm not going to say that it would be awful to be in the main hall, but I enjoyed having a seperate room.
It's only about painting now.

Just a thought: if WFB, LOTR and WAB move into the Junior ball room - I wonder how the demo tables would play staged in the hall ways?

For those of you who did not make it down there - the Junior ball room is accessed thru a hallway wider than that in front of the main ball room. With a side hall way of similar width. I don't see the hotel objecting - the damn Black and White ball had the hallways choked with tables.

Excellent choice on venue. I loved the pla e and had a great time. Especially for people with family. Plenty to do in the area for non-gamers.
I hope it's there next year.
