We were practicing for NOVA and made the most boring, symmetrical table we could make.

Primary - 5 objectives. One in each tale quarter and one in the center
Secondary - table quarters using a complicated and convoluted formula we couldn't understand
Tertiary - warlord, Linebreaker, First blood

Big B won the rolls and let me go first in a diagonal deployment. We put an obnoxious LOS blocking piece in the center, as they do at NOVA, and I hid the Maulerfiends (the dogs) behind and everything else fanned out along the line. Horrors and cultists in reserve. Big B castles up towards the back, but strung some Kroot and a pathfinder unit down the deployment line.

I cast invisibility on a Maulerfiend and the Daemonettes and made my way forward. The LOC flew right into a building and on the next turn assaulted 14 Kroot hiding there. The dogs hid behind the LOC blocking center piece and waited.

Marker lights went out to deny cover saves. The Soul Grinder was blown to pieces and the Daemonettes were whittled down to almost half.

I crash into the Tau lines with 2 invisible dogs, spawn, and the LOC. I target the pathfinders where I could and kill two units of them. I down a bunch of Kroot in combat, but one dog is stuck fighting 20 Kroot. The horrors deep strike and kill 11 Kroot in a large squad with shooting.

The Tau put a lot of fire into the LOC and kill him. They then concentrate on an invisible dog, but with the marker lights gone, the dogs 2+ cover save keeps him safe. In combat the locked Kroot lose and get run down.

The spawn and dogs swoop into the Tau backfield. The three units proceed to wipe out the Broadside big unit, both hammerheads and the last pathfinder squad and 2 more Kroot squads. The chaos fast movers were on fire and the Tau couldn't escape.

Even with all the carnage the Tau had the game won on the bottom of turn 5 as two units of hiding Jetbikes moved flat out 36" to secure and deny some objectives. The only thing that saved me we rolling for a turn 6 so I could wipe them out in combat otherwise even with all the devastation the Tau would have won the game.

My chaos list is only about half as fast as some of the Daemon/chaos assault lists that have been doing well recently at big tourneys. Yet even that was enough to bust the Tau lines. I rely on invisibility to let the Maulerfiends and spawn get close so once the pathfinders were gone my invisible units were near immune to shooting. To make the list fast I could remove the Grinder and add in 10 Fleshhounds. Change horrors into more Daemonettes. I could change one CSM unit into another cultist unit and use those points for a third Maulerfiend. Then I would have 3 Maulerfiends, 5 spawn, 10 Fleshhounds, 35 Daemonettes and a Lord of Change all fast moving and barreling into the enemy lines. Backed up by invisibility and terrify I should be able to crack most shooty armies.
