Any word on Adepticon FAQs yet?

Hi, I was wondering if there is any estimated date for the Adepticon FAQ update at all? Specifically, I'm reading MANY contentious threads about Void shields and how many hits a single blast weapon can do to a Void Shield. And if a blast can do multiple hits to a Void Shield, can it take down multiple Void Shields by itself?

The D-blast wound allocation is more settled now, the majority view (at least on BOLS and now DakkaDakka), is that a number of D-table results are rolled for however many models are hit in a unit by the blast, put into 'result pools' rather than wound pools, and then those results are allocated model by model like a normal shooting attack wound allocation. This way 1 D-hit cannot kill more than a single model, unless a Character/IC Looks Out Sir each wound suffered from a D-result causing multiple wounds.

Thank you!

The FAQ crew had a meeting this week. That was discussed at length. It generally takes a few days to sort out the editing and layout. Additionally we are in the prime packet production period.

I would look for an FAQ update next week.

Lord Krungharr,

We landed pretty close to what you describe as the "popular" view point but in a slightly different manner. We will have the official word out soon but if you are playing similar to how you described it shouldn't be a huge adjustment for you.

Regards,

Chris

FYI, the final direction we ended up going with for the FAQ this year is a bit different than what you mentioned above. We decided to go this way this year as it does seem to be the most consistent method (that fits within the existing wound allocation rules) while also doesn't cause gameplay to slow to a crawl while you're forced to roll a dozen 'look out sir' attempts (for example).

Here's how it will likely appear in the FAQ:

For ease of tournament play, at this event casualty removal for blast/template D-weapons on non-vehicle units will be resolved as such: roll on the destroyer table for each model that is under the blast/template, with any wounds generated forming a wound pool. A model may never generate more wounds into the wound pool than it currently has remaining, no matter what result is rolled. These wounds are then allocated to models in the unit following the normal rules for casualty removal. If models from more than one unit are covered by the blast/template, then each unit forms a separate wound pool as usual. Note that if you have multiple models (from the same unit) under the blast/template that all have the same amount of wounds remaining, you can speed things up by rolling all their destroyer table rolls together as a group.

Hope that helps!

Ah, yes, that would speed things up. So if a D-blast hits 5 Guardsmen and a Company Commander, the most that unit will suffer will be 8 wounds. And if it hit 5 Screamers, that unit could only suffer 10 wounds?

Sounds very reasonable.

Well, no, in your examples you'd only suffer 6 and 5 wounds, max, but instant death would blat them anyway.

Seahawk, read the rules for D-weapons. They don't cause instant death anymore.

Krungharr- yes that is correct, assuming that none of the models were injured prior to the d-weapon hit. Personally I would have gone the fantasy route for exploding wounds (take 1 save and if failed it explodes, if still alive, take next save, repeat as needed) but so be it. It works out to be pretty similar.

The FAQ was recently updated and it addresses this question officially.
