Fantasy Champ.

What was the reasoning behind makeing the fantasy champ 2000pts and not 2250?

I'm curious and at the same time, agitated. I'm not mad at you guys. I'm mearly getting frustrated with my army list because I am having trouble building my WoC list.

Championships

A. We arent just another 2250.

B. 7th ed was 'supposedly' designed with a 2k game in mind.

C. About 10% of the games last year were not able to finish 6 turns.

D. WPS as an unbiased Comp score.

Kk, was wondering. Like I said, I am getting very frustrated cause I have trouble fitting basic components into the army. But thats my problem, not yours. :P

Thanks for the explanation marty :)

:( I really like 2,250 much more. 10% of the games doesn't seem too too bad. I mean there will always be slow players, and I feel that I can play a 2,250 game just as fast as 2,000.

2K forces you to make much more painful choices which is going to make for overall a better event, with your actual WPS score as your comp score in addition to BP bidding My guess is all bets are off, looking forward to it.

Yep. Makes for some very interesting dilemmas. I've already started working on my concepts for this year. I'm almost certain I'm going with my stunties this year.

WPS in this case stands for the Warhammer Players Society army composition system that is going to be in effect for adepticon this year. This composition system is linked in the rules pdf for the wfb championship.

Basically every army starts with a raw score of 3000 and then bonuses and penalties based on different factors.

this is the wps http://www.adepticon.org/wpfiles/2010/wpscomp.pdf make sure you read it over 4 to 5 times so you get it.

There is magic section, plus and minus section aswell take all of it and divide by 200 and it will give you a number.

Alot of the time it is going to have alot of decimal places it is your comp score, a full comp score is 25 points ---- so 5000 is going to give you max points.

Just remember this is like a bid. How much points you want to sacrifice to put the hero hammer on the table, or how much points you want for comp to lose to a hero hammer list.

Note, there will be at least one update to the wps comp before Adepticon because of the new Skaven Book.

Good lord. That is a wierd set-up.

Chaos loses 600 is you bring a hellcannon. So the ONLY real artillery in the chaos book gets you dinged?

There are definitely some funky things in there. Some armies get dinged hard for shooting and some armies don't get dinged hard for shooting (Weeds in particular don't get hurt too badly for tons of shooting)

Were these changes requested by a lot of players? Nearly all of the people I have heard from dislike the WPS system and especially the lowering of points. I've heard from a few that are even considering not going because of these changes, even though they have attended in the past. I love Adepticon too much to not attend, but I am quite disappointed by these changes I know and might consider other events outside of the team tourney (I do like the no lords change.)

WPS has been used repeatedly here in the Midwest at Indy events throughout the last year and the results have been being examined over at IWFB.org. The overall feeling seems to be its been successful as an unbiased comp that takes the clear unbalance of new to old army books into account. Two very notable tournaments- Core Competency (IL) and the Northstar (MN) are taking place this weekend both using WPS and have a combined attendance of close to 120 players, drawing from IL, IN, WI and MN and IA...many of these people will attend Adepticon. In short, at least here in the midwest, it seems WPS is getting some legs. If you cant swallow it -there is always Friday's 2999, no comp- WFB event
