Will Ordnance be allowed this year?

Probably... I have not finalized the rules yet, but I'm leaning toward allowing it.

IMHO, I think you should really reconsider allowing it. It unbalanced the tournie last year and it runs contrary to the entire idea of a combat PATROL - which is why GW didn't allow it in their official version.

I honestly don't think it unbalanced anything. Looking at the results from back then I see a total of 4 IG armies (and I am absolutely sure that not all had Ordnance) and the best IG did was 25th. There were scenario requirements to deal with over-the-top armies and there will be those again this year.
I have run a few Combat Patrol tourneys/leagues to figure out how to deal with that :) Honestly there are other many more pressing issues than Ordnance, and I agree that they will have a distinct advantage over certain armies, but than again, so will every other army there.
Combat Patrol is most of all a "fun" tournament and I would like to keep it that way

Cal - no FOC restrictions to Combat Patrol? The only thing is at least one troop unit. And can I only have max one hq?

My point wasn't to cast aspersions on your experience as an organizer, just to point out that the inclusion of ordnance kind of runs contrary to the idea of a patrol unit (just as "elite" units [2+wounds, 2+ saves], heavy vehicles [over 33AV], and characters does).

But, thanks for the reply. I'll plan my list accordingly...

The final rules will be posted, but you are correct... Have to have a troop and max is 1 HQ (but you don't have to have an HQ).

I ran IG with ordinance last year, thinking it would do me great... as was stated, no IG player game in higher than 25th...
there's a reason for that.

125 points for ordinance in a 400 point game means you don't have much to spend on the basics.

I don't think it's overpowered at all, and it totally fit my theme of a planetary defense force.

Is the board played on a full 6X4? I would think 400 points can get lost on a full board.

IIRC, it was on a 4x4 board last year...

So I am interested in the rule on no model may have more than 2 wounds count toward HQ choices as well?

Yes. No model can have more than 2 wounds counts for any model. Remember, you do not need to include an HQ in combat patrol.

I have never been in a "patrol" game. What type of missions are they? From the way it sounds someone has done this, can anyone describe a past mission or scenario from previous years?
