Non-GW miniatures in events

Postby TheRagingRodian » Mon Sep 28, 2009 7:06 pm

For this year's Adepticon GW tournaments will there be a silly rule that you have to use GW miniatures? I ask because there are many non GW-sponsors for this non-official GW event, and there are alot of top notch qualityminiatures made by other companies that could easily be used for the games. Basically if it is on an appropriately sized base and you can tell what it is in the game can we use the model?

Note too that GW has listed events that use non-GW miniatures on their website, such as the Alamo Indy GT:
http://www.alamogt.com/rules.php

Mechanicon in PA also specifically mentions that you can use non-GW miniatures in your armies, and was also supported on the GW website:

Sorry due to the problems linking to specific parts of GW's site I didn't list those links but they are easy to find.

Besided if GW didn't want us playing Warhammer with other people's miniatures they wouldn't have put out Warhammer Ancients!

Which game are you asking about? Last year, the GW model policy only applied to the 40K events. http://www.adepticon.org/09rules/modelpolicy.html All of the other events had no restrictions.

That link specifies that you can use GW models, Armorcast models (who used to make licensed GW models), and Adepticon models (who should obviously be included).
If it has already been ruled that non-GW models can be used then great!

Admittedly it would be easier to use them in the fantasy events, but there could be a few 40k models that could be represented elsewhere.

I wouldn't worry about it too much; I saw tons of Ultraforge models in the Team Tournament and the 40k Singles.
