40K Team Tournament Primer [Jan. 24th]

Postby Matthias » Fri Dec 26, 2008 4:21 pm

It's that time again. The AdeptiCon 40K Team Tournament Primer will be held at the Chicago Battle Bunker - Saturday, January 24th. Check-in time is 10AM with the first game starting at 10:30.

Due to space and time limitations there will only be room for 10 teams (4 people/team) and the tournament will only consist of 3 rounds.

To reserve a spot for your Team, email me your Team Name and Team Members to adepticon09@gmail.com.

Teams will be taken on a first-come basis, so don't delay! There will be a small waiting list if we get more than 10 teams registered.

Question

Postby icenutz » Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:27 pm

Does the winner of the primer take the 11th seat at Adepticon? Thats what I heard at least and if thats the case why would you want to win. You will be playing the best of the best come april in the first round. Which I am not worried about but at the same time I like taking the first round a bit lightly to get my feet wet.

What's the critical number for this thing to happen? How many teams?
Thanks

I doubt you see this years Team Tourney seeded. Some years the event has been seeded .. and others it has not been. Pros and Cons both ways..

Honestly .. given the change to 5th edition. Getting a few games under your belt with your team .. and a first glance at some of the Team Tourney changes is definitely worth it.

Primer results will have no bearing at all on the actual 40K Team Tournament.

Dead Sexy ran away when they heard Team Brokeback signed on...so we are down to 3 teams. Registration is open through January 20th. At the minimum we need 6 teams to actually make this a true Primer. With 4 teams we can go through the motions, test the scenarios and get some practice games in, but we really won't be able to match up games based on Battle Points.

If we fall short on teams - we will reschedule for mid to late February and change the format to accommodate 2-man teams which should allow more teams to attend. A 4-man team can simply register as 2 2-man teams for the day. This isn't ideal, but in essence accomplishes the same thing save the mixing of teammates over the three games.

I can tell you the year our team won the Primer we were NOT seeded. At least not that I know of since both the team we played in Round 1 of the Team Tourney and ourselves ended very much in the middle of the pack at the end of the day.

Looks like we got a 4th team. We can run the primer with 4. I need to double check with all teams that they are still committed to the Primer - and we will go from there.

Team primer

Postby icenutz » Sun Jan 25, 2009 4:51 pm

Everything was great thanks to who ever got the primer running. A few suggestions would be to have players judge composition before the game starts because if someone gets owned they have the tendency to assume that their opponent had a "Cheap" list....

Also as far as the primer went I though the missions were done well. However, I also thought that there was a bit too much riding on kill points. I think it was a Primary in one and a secondary in two others. I think it would be a good idea to think of 4 main missions as primary objectives in April. And then make them alternate fair through out the missions. So for example kill points would be a primary in one game, secondary in a different game and then tertiary and then there would be no kill points in the final game. I think this would be fair for all team because it will balance everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. Just some suggestions
