AdeptiCon 2009 Dates and Location Announced!

Postby Matthias » Mon Aug 04, 2008 2:02 pm

After six years years of constant expansion, and outgrowing three separate venues, AdeptiCon returns in 2009 as the ultimate independent convention experience in the Games Workshop miniature wargaming hobby. With three days packed with events, from Warhammer Fantasy to Warhammer 40K, from Specialist Games to Warhammer Historical, AdeptiCon offers something for everyone, from the person just entering the hobby to the hardcore tournament gamer.

AdeptiCon will return April 3rd – 5th, 2009 for its seventh year of Games Workshop miniature wargaming madness. Mark your calendars, put in for the time off work, and start making your travel plans, because AdeptiCon just keeps getting bigger and better!

This year we will be moving to the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center in Lombard, IL, just outside of Chicago. Full details concerning the new venue (including room codes & rates) will be posted within the next week.

Check out the official AdeptiCon website for full details.

YAY!! Great news Matthias! This further shows how hard you guys work and how well you listen (I suggested to Muwhe right after Acon to check it out). This location should make GW happy since the Westin is about a 10-15 min *walk* to the Chicago Battle Bunker, has close proximity to the Yorktown Mall (across the street) as well as access to a Target (across the street). The two restaurants in the hotel (Harry Carray's and the seafood place are top notch) as well as a smattering of other bars / restaurants w/in a short walk from the Hotel. Gluck on selling this bad boy out again!

YAY!! I'm even more stoked because it's a 10 min drive for me which means I can come back and bring the kids when I'm not in a tournament.

Westin = Free Parking too.

The location is great. Thanks for the suggestion - we will have as much info as possible regarding the venue posted over the next couple of days. We are just waiting on them to give us the room codes and all that.

Isn't this Spring Break leading into Easter Sunday?

EDIT: Easter is the following Sunday - hench why I'm guessing they went with either the 3rd or the 17th.

Easter seems to be on April 12 2009.

As for spring break - isn't that going to vary widely based on school (for those that have school in their lives)?

Dunno when everyone's spring break is. I know my kids is that week. I may be toast as far as getting to go... I'm completely apoplectic.

Although the free parking is good for the locals, the fact that it is over 20 miles away from O'Hare is a major concern for the out-of-towners.

Anyone know that breakdown of attendees that live within 350 miles, and those that live outside of 350 miles?

20 miles from O'hare certainly means a shuttle is out of the question :-(

The hotel has a flat rate deal with a taxi company for O'Hare service. Once we have all the details it will be up on the Adepticon website.

Allan,

Break down these days I bet is roughly 60-40 drivers to flyers if I had to roughly estimate it.

...

If there were anyway I could manage it, I'd had it taken care of last night. We've a family vacation already planned for the last 4 months that week and a deposit down on it. In exchange for me missing Acon, I'll be at CGD, CGT and LVGT in '09... beware ;)
