Taking down dragons

Out weekly group has a dragon based force that has been trying to rampage across Middle Earth and a couple of Troll fueled Mordor War Catapult equipped forces. So I thought I'd be a nasty little git and bring out the Spectres again.

The Shadowlord will take care of the catapult problem and add in some much needed Might to the force. The two Wights will work well in dropping heavy hitting heroes (like the dragon and spider queen). The Castellans and Numenoreans bodyguard The Shadowlord until the Spectres can drag victims into range to be ganged up on. Bodyguard forces and anything wth Fury running is going to be a pain, but unlike my previous incarnations of this force I have fighting elements (Numenoreans and Castellans) coupled with a missile defense (Shadowlord), the abiity to seriously nerf heroes and tougher troop types (Wights). So dealing with a Shaman or bodyguarded isn't as much of a problem as it has been in times past when I ran friendlier versions of this menagerie.

Of course the goal is to teach the dragon player to play smarter rather than just ramming that great beast into his opponent while the rest of his force hides from arrow fire.

Notes: I find it interesting that The Shadowlord has a lower courage value than the majority of the troops.

Of course the Shadowlord is a coward...he spends all of his time hiding, after all.

I think it is a good addition to your army. Those specters were too vulnerable to Easterling bowfire, otherwise.

You don't have to rely on your specters to rope enemies closer; I always use a Ringwraith for that job in my armies.

Yes, the new Castellans are awesome, especially when combined with Wights to make enemies vulnerable to a Morgul blade attack.

This would be a very annoying army to face. However, in my 600 point Rohan force, I had already planned to take Erkenbrand with his +2 Courage horn. Go, C5 Rohirrim!

Smack that dragon, and his master...
