Quest to Purchase a Mordor Sourcebook...

Postby balrog_28 » Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:37 pm

I cannot seem to find the Mordor Sourcebook anywhere to purchase. If anyone could tell me where to find it - I'd be very happy. But - for planning purposes for BBB - would anyone be willing to PM me and tell me the following:
Pt Cost of Black Numenorean Warriors
Pt Cost of Morgul Knights
Pt Cost (I think 60) and Options for a Black Numenorean Marshal

I can gather the stat lines from the GW site, but I cannot find the points costs defined anywhere - I'd gladly buy the Sourcebook - but cannot find it.

I would like to include a small force of these models alongside my Easterlings and do not know the points costs nor the options that can be employed for the Marshal (horse so that he can join the Knights?). The other half/two-thirds of my force will be an Easterling Captain, Banner Bearer, a few Kataphrakts, and Easterling Foot troops to flush out the rest of the points.

I want to go with a great contrast of colors with the two portions of my troops - will look quite nice together, hopefully. Black/Pewter/DeepBlue and RedOrange/DarkGold.

Plus I'd like to really see how Black Numenoreans would do in combat with support from Easterling Pikemen and a threat of cav charges from either the Kataphrakts or Morgul Knights.

It's rare to find the Sourcebooks on Ebay. I've had better luck finding them on Amazon. Just did a quick search...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... ition=used

Both were around $16.

Hope that helps!!

Thanks much - just ordered it. I appreciate all the responses. I believe I'm going to paint up the following:

Easterling Captain w/Shield
Black Numenorean Marshal w/Shield and Armored Horse
6 Easterling Kataphrakts
4 Morgul Knights
10 Easterling Pikemen
15 Easterling Bowmen
9 Black Numenoreans
600 Points

46 total models
4 Might (a little light here admittedly)
15 Bow
14 Terror
a lot of pain for all of you, hopefully :)

I could switch the Captain and Marshal for having the Armored Horse - either way - I'd like to have one lead the Cavalry, or at least half the cav...

Unfortunately, you do not have enough Easterlings to field 15 bowmen. While you have enough total warriors (edit: you'd actually be 1 model short of being able to field 15 bows), you have to field enough from the same list. What I mean, is that in order to field 15 Easterling bowmen, you have to have 30 Easterlings without bows. The total between lists does not matter. Only within the same list.

If you take out 5 bows, add in 5 swords, you would have 21 Easterlings without bows and 10 with, which would make the list legal.

Longfang is correct. The 33% bow limit must be adhered to for each allied contingent - not just the overall lists. Also, something that trips people up, bow limits are also only calculated for warriors. Heroes are not included in the calculation.

Yeah baby. 60 archers in a 600 point force. All outriders on foot of course. :P

Oops sorry for the hijack. You could look into Haradrim as allies which are cheap as orcs and have the same bows with better arrows.

I think you will find that the list with 10 bowman of the same type is the most useful. You need 10 of same bows to be able to volleyfire as a group. Orc Bows and "Human" bows can't mix together for volley fire purposes.

Having said that, volley fire isn't essential but early in the game before the lines are close enough to engage its the only way to get the archers some shots.

There are times when Volley Fire is preferrable to direct fire. When you're facing a Shadowlord or Cast Blinding Light you can even the archery playing field, When facing off elves or any other nasty archery force and of course if you are defending. Those few extra shots can make miracles happen early in the game.
