B3 - Minas Tirith Army

Postby Monty » Mon Jul 11, 2011 5:44 pm

An idea I'm throwing around:

Boromir of Gondor (Fellowship Version)
Captain of Minas Tirith on horse with shield

6 x Knights of MT with shield
8 x Guard of Fountain Court with shield
8 x WOMT with shield
8 x WOMT with shield and spear
13 x Rangers
2 x Rangers with Spear

47 models
8 might
15 bow

Planning on using the mounted Faramir, Captain of Ithilien model for the mounted Captain and the Moria box version of Boromir; both models I've wanted to use in an army for a while. Theme-wise this is a group led by Boromir after rumors of a "great weapon" have started to turn him, but before the meeting with Elrond.

Boromir is frightening, no matter what version. Have you thought about using Osgiliath vetsto get the boosted fight value from Boromir? I don't have LoME handy, but I think that you can still take a captain of minas tirith in the rangers list (for the vets).

Just a thought.

Yes you can but you can't get the knights or the fountain court guys in the Ranger list.

Good point. I shouldn't read army lists while half-asleep. I saw "Boromir" and translated that into "Tower of Ecthelion", spacing on the fact that he's out of the Fellowship, which would leave no hero for the knights, etc.

Beregrond (Tower of Ecthelion) and Damrod (Rangers of Ithilien) = 45 points and fixes the hero issue.

and they both have bows that don't count towards bow limit so that's also a bit of gravy as well.

hmmm...like the idea of Damrod to lead the rangers. I have the captain from the Minas Tirith list on horse to lead the knights. I'd like to plant Boromir in with the Fountain Court to take advantage of their defense 7 and spears. Beregond (in addition to Damrod) may make it a little hero heavy. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for the input!

You can stick Beregond on a horse so that isn't too much of an issue and it's cheaper to boot than a standard MT captain on horse. He only has one wound though so you need to be a LITTLE more careful.
