New 600 Point lists

Postby EricA » Mon Jun 27, 2011 6:49 pm

I'm brainstorming various ideas for armies for the SITE coming up in about a month. Bear with my brain as it has been brainstorming ever since ToS. Most of the models are painted and dont really need to do anything to prepare any of the lists. Some of the lists are more serious than the others.

Isengard/Isengard Raiders

Vrasku
Uruk Captain with heavy armor and xbow
20 Orc warriors with shield
20 Orc warriors with shield and spear
20 Uruks with crossbow

5 might
62 models
31 break
23 shots

Fiefdoms/fellowship/rohan

Legolas with armor and horse
8 outriders
Forlong the fat
17 Dol Amroth Knights
6 Men-at-Arms
10 Rangers of Gondor with spears
1 Ranger of Gondor

6 might
44 models
22 break
19 S2 shots, 3 S3 shots

Goblins

Named Nazgul
Durburz
17 Blackshields
21 Blackshields with spear and shield
19 Goblin prowers with bow

5 might
59 models
30 break
19 shots

Arnor/gondor

King of men with armored horse, lance, shield, heavy armor
10 Knights of Minas Tirith with shield
4 Rangers of Gondor with spear
Captain of Arnor with shield
Dunedain
20 Warriors of Arnor
10 Rangers of Arnor with spear

5 might
47 models
24 break
15 shots

Rohan/Gondor/Woses

Eomer with shield, horse
10 Outriders
Ghan-Buri-ghan
16 woses
Beregond
16 Fountain Court Guard with shield

7 might
45 models
23 break
10 shots, 17 blowpipes

Nature's Wrath

Gandalf the grey
Elrond, master of rivendell (205 points?)
7 elves with bow, heavy armor, spear
14 elves with heavy armor, shield

6 might
23 models
12 break
7 shots

and that's that. Note that I dont plan on using a couple of these lists in serious tournaments.

All of the armies seem fairly balanced although the Nature's Wrath list wouldn't do so well IMO. Why not add the black shield drummer to the Goblin list? And I am not sure the Fiefdoms list with Legolas is very well themed. Otherwise, nice forces I wouldn't mind facing.

Haha yeah the nature's wrath list is just something I was toying with. Use the "improved" nature's wrath with elrond and then strengthen his will back up with gandalf. I could take a drummer with the black guard list, hadnt thought of that. The Fiefdoms list is Pelenor fields with mounted legolas and outriders to represent part of the grey company contingent. Had a list with Halbarad in it with 2 extra outriders and him instead of Legolas.

[quote And I am not sure the Fiefdoms list with Legolas is very well themed.]
With all the non-Tolkien "constructs" flying about (Shadow Lord, Kardush, et al) I tend to not get too wrapped up in critiquing theme anymore. Its nice to see pure Tolkien theme stuff (excellent example: the Unexpected Party) but anything that at least uses allowed combinations of heros/troops that Tolkien actually mentions (or for that matter that you see in the movies) ranks as least as reasonable in theme as those hinged primarily on GW "constructs". Agreed, though I always hate seeing Legolas across the table and as much as I toy with using him I think I've used him all of twice.

I like the Denethor list as it uses a hero you almost never see in play.

And Gandalf can strengthen Denethor's will to keep him on the straight and narrow path......

Yeah, I think the denethor list has potential, even if it is just F3 D6 guys.
