Throne of Skulls 2012 invitation

Postby Smeagol » Mon Aug 13, 2012 6:00 pm

I just received a Throne of Skulls E-mail notifying me that I've got a complimentary ticket to attend the event. Anyone else get one of these?

EDIT: I see Frank and Chris-LS are in the notification list.

Yeah, I got mine today, presumably from MitM 2011.

Based on previous explanations, the following should be the automatic qualifiers for this year's event: (remember, only 1st overall qualified automatically this time around; but other spots will be made available via open sale).

SITE: John Adams
MITM: Frank Brown
Grand Waagh: Tim Hixon
GITD: Chris Langland
Acon Singles: John Humphrey

I do see John Adams on the email list; don't know John H.'s address so not sure about him.

I plan to. And yeah I forgot to add BBB to my list.

Speaking of going, there will be several spots available for "at-large" entrants in LOTR. Who else is interested in going?

Looking at my schedule, I couldn't go. I've volunteered to coach my son's fall baseball team and we have games that weekend.

It was my understanding that Adepticon LOTR Championships was a qualifier. If so, you should have gotten an email about it today. Might want to check with Jamie or Jeremy to see what was turned in

According to the email they are trying to get RSVPs from auto-qualifiers by 8/30 so they know how many slots remain.

If I go I would have to take Eric, William, and Alexander as well, school permitting.
Probably end up playing Eric three times

I've emailed Matt to check on this. You should have gotten an email like the rest so don't know what happen. We'll figure it out though so keep posted.

It looks like essentially the same packet as last year with updates for the warband changes.

Rules packet wrote:The Lord of the Rings: A 700-point force chosen from the most current, in-print Sourcebooks. These include Kingdoms of Men, The Free Peoples, The Fallen Realms, Mordor, and Moria & Angmar. All standard restictions on warband creation and the use of allies apply.

• You will play three games in a one-day tournament, and five games in a two-day tournament. The time limit for each round is 2 1/2 hours.

Rules Packet wrote:• Skull Taker – This is a competition within the Throne of Skulls Tournament that measures the amount of damage you can inflict upon your opponent’s armies. This award is calculated by adding up the point values of units and characters COMPLETELY destroyed during games. Note that these points are a little different than victory points and do not include bonus points earned for objectives, kill points, table quarters, standards, etc. This means the maximum number of points you could earn each round would be equal
to your opponent’s total army points value (1,500 pts for 40K, 2000 pts for Fantasy, etc.).

If this was in vegas again I might have considered this
if GW put forth any inclination that they can actually run a real event for one of their big 3 games I might have considered.
If this was anywhere else but memphis I might have considered this

lots of ifs there. Good luck to the people that do go, I hope the TOs learned from last year...
