Annoucning Bilbo's Birthday Bash 2012

Postby BrentS » Fri Mar 30, 2012 10:27 pm

We are pleased to announce the 4th Annual Bilbo's Birthday Bash. The tournament will again take place at the Chicago Battle Bunker on November 3rd and 4th. Over the course of these two days, players will bring both good and evil armies (that's right, a return to Good vs Evil matchups!) and will battle with 6 different opponents (that's right, 6 Games in 2012!)

Pre-Registration for Bilbo's Birthday Bash is now open. The per-registration cost is $50. The Registration fee will go up to $60 after September 14, 2012. Check out the Registration Page for more details.

In addition to 6 great games, we will also be catering lunch on both days. Please send me an email (via the contact page) if you have any special dietary restrictions.

Due to changes in the Event Venue and Games Workshop Tournament Circuit Support, the field size for tournament will have a hard limit of 30 players.

I'm also pleased to announce that Chris Thomas will be helping with Bilbo's Birthday Bash this year.

I like the fact you have to have both armies. I need to build and paint an evil army now. What to do? What to do?

Interesting first read. I don't see anything objectionable about it. I like the cothemimg of the Good and Evil forces. Assuming I can afford the trip this year I think I will enjoy the challenge. One question though. How badly do the soft scores determine the overall winner. Is it possible to do poorly in battles and still win because you've maxed out the soft scores. This is a scenario that annoys a lot of players. Having the soft scores forgive a lost battle is fine, but too much weight to the soft scores can unbalance tournament results.

Though as I recall you still have a Best General award so Battle Scores are still celebrated.

Registration for BBB is now open! I've edited the post above to reflect some of the new information. Please take note of the new price and LIMIT on number of players.

Heh. First to register unless someone else has already registered and the website hasn't been updated yet. I'm almost certainly going to be using that Fiefdoms/Corsairs pair that I have posted in the army lists section.

I sure hope we fill this tournament up. I just ordered 9 trophies for the event spread out between the Tournament Winners and the Painting Competition winners!

Up to 9 paid registrations now. Almost 1/3 full. Don't delay and make sure you get registered. BBB 2012 is planning some awesome swag this year with items never before given away (as best as I can tell).

We are officially 1/3 full and I know I have 3 registrations pending. Don't miss out on a chance for BBB 2012! I know its still several months away but I feel pretty confident that it will sell out.

It's almost too bad that this is happening at the bunker itself otherwise I'd go and buy cheaper models from another company to represent 68 Ruffians since there's no way I'm paying full GW for 22 ruffians with bow and 46 ruffians with whip so I could do my Scouring of the Shire themed pairs.
