Prices are actually a little bit lower than I was expecting (but still way expensive).

I really like the layout of the book covers. The movie quotes are sweet.

A light from the shadow shall spring

I'm warming to the idea of these new books. Still not sure about implementing them in April but I'll certainly get the books I need for current armies and projects. Looks like I might get away with under $100 for now.

look at the warstore guys u may be able to get the books for 20% off with a flat 5 for shipping and no tax. thats my plan. Plus all the prices are lower then what we had quoted. the prices may still be to high for some folk.

Army book prices are very reasonable, compared to the fantasy and 40K books. $71.00 for the big beasties isn't that bad either because the Mumak was $65.00 when I started now its $85.00.

I think I really like the Orc beast, I thin that model could lend itself to some nice conversions for a big Pelinor Fields game.

I suspect with the need for so many heros, the value of standard points matches will be increasing.

Actually with control on troop spam that Hero +12 should give you, I actually get a better list at 600 points with Cirith Ungol than I do under the current rules but I am thinking that having 40 models is *ok* while under current SBG thats very dicey.

I think you'd need to limit the number of heroes you can take under at certain point costs..or you will still just have the issue of the game being a battle of generic warriors

For example

(Orc Captain + Orc Warrior @ 6 pts x 12 ) 112
(Orc Captain + Orc Warrior @ 6 pts x 12 ) 112
(Orc Captain + Orc Warrior @ 6 pts x 12 ) 112
(Orc Captain + Orc Warrior @ 6 pts x 12 ) 112
(Orc Captain + Orc Warrior @ 6 pts x 11 ) 106
+ Banner + Horn - 599

65 models...not very themey or fun to play but effective..

750 might not be a bad idea to put monsters and good heroes on the field and still plan for high model counts. there is surely going to be alot of debate on to roll with this going forward..

@Old Coast--- 65 models that is a HUGE army for you. I am sure you could add some huge monster thingy (even though its Finecast) to cut you model limit down. I would hope for $71.00 there quality control should catch any mistakes.

I got on my "jump to conclusions" mat, and avoided jumping to any conclusions yet.

you never have to buy all the books either way, just the stuff you play, looking forward to the new army builds, makes orcs forces potentially cool if you can upgrade stat lines with a pimp hero

They have 360o panorama of the the Watcher and the Beast and many of the other new models on their respective advanced order pages.

They also have the Sprues for the Easterling Katapratchs posted online as well.
