If what's in this thread is true, this is a sad day for LOTR players. That being said, if GW's going to all the trouble to do this, the rumor that's also floating around about a new edition of SBG coming out next month may also be true. I'm glad that I've pretty much finished out all my planned lotr armies at this point.

While I don't love any price increase... only getting 12 models in a box won't kill me. I think its more sad that the "current" sourcebooks continue to be unavailable!

Wait....less for more? Oh yeah, that is GW is recent years. They'll just get less purchases from me is all.....unless The Hobbit game is something special. Even then, as long as I can use existing forces I'm set...until they release a new book with statcreep so I have to buy the new army....but GW would never do that.....

I miss the starter army sets that came out about the same time as LOME...$90 each got me a nice starter White Hand and Rohan Army. New poses would be nice either way.

I have two main hobbies, Flight Simulator and Miniature wargaming...the price of quality electronics keeps going down and well, we know the story for miniatures. The nice thing about the miniatures is that they basically last forever and do not burn out graphics cards...

Frankly, I'm not surprised at all. We have a "nitch" hobby, and GW has made it very clear in the past in statements to the public that we will pay what they tell us we are going to pay if we want their products. With that being their attitude, I really don't see supporting their product anymore in my best interest. Frankly, I want to see them raise their prices even more, say $75 for one sprue of orcs. And then when they see no one buying their product anymore and GW world wide shuts down and they go out of business, then a clear message with be sent to companies around the world. Yes, it is a nitch hobby, but business is business, and you give the customer what they want. That is if you want to stay in business.

Oh, no. You've just never seen me on a GW tirade.

I tend to avoid camplaining about GW as I've seen so much of their practices for so long, and still kept buying stuff, I figured I was hypoctitical. If it was really that bad, I'd just start buying and playing other stuff and I never did...until the recent decline in LotR support and the ever increasing cost of GW hobby products.

I'll play the game and run events but new dollars are going to tiny tanks and German Paratroopers for the time being.

I ordered some plastics about three days ago (third party seller, but still)

Looks like I got them just in time before the cost hike.

Thanks AWC for the heads up.

I'm just glad now that all my armies that I have are now done on the plastic side. At least until the bring out more plastics of stuff that should have gone plastic years ago.

This is another one that scares me a bit, but than I sat back and thought about it...... 12 minis for $22. That is still less than $2 a mini, great except the price has doubled in the last 5 years, that is NUTS.

The most ridiculous price hike is the Uruk-Hai. You get 10 Uruks. That is disgusting. That said, I really don't need more haha.

I am a little worried about the (allegedly) forthcoming plastics--from both LotR and the Hobbit. If I want to build a new army, the 12-man box is going to really get me.

I suppose I always have Gondor

FYI. The stores may still have the older boxes until they sell them. This was at least true at the Orland Park store. In fact, the manager and staff didn't know so clearly they were not ordered to ship them back. He figures they'll just get the new boxes once they sell these.

I got a box of Morranon Orcs as I don't have any Orcs plastic models but tons of characters and other models. I might pick up a generic Orc box as well if they still have it.
