Going from 700 to 1000 allows for the addition of some cool models you might not normally use that eat up chunks of points: Dragons, Siege Weapons, Balrog, Sauron, Elessar, Gandalf TW, Eagles, Ents etc... So your base "bulk" force of 700 models can be fleshed out by adding maybe another 10+ models or 1 model, depends.

I think it would be fun to build a 750pt force and then add one or two models to hit 1000pts.

The downside to this kind of game is that you want to get into the action quickly because a lot of stuff is going to happen. Tactically, that is kind of a bad idea but if you maneuver all your models constantly it could take an hour before you even make it to combat. The first 4 turns of movement are often the most grueling for me.

Well, in the interest of time, we tend to avoid the more intensive set up games that actually have conditions which can be met much sooner thus speeding up the game. /shrug.

I would love to get a 1000+ game going. Especially when for most of the 600 point games I am looking to play, I plan on including the Mumakil, which doesn't allow me to play all the raiders and serpent riders I would want.

With a 1000+ army I would be able to include all the Calvary my heart desires and then some.

With the two forces I enjoy playing most I could go from 600 to 1000 with only a couple of models. The downside to it is always going to be waiting for the other player to move all their models.

It gives you more time to think out your counter moves and finese your tactical battle plan. The longer my opponent takes to make their moves the better my plans become. Never give me time to ponder my next move or two. ;)

I voted 700-999 because above that is just extra heros that don't add much to my forces at least until christmas
