What the biggest game you'd be willing to play?

Is 1000 points too big a game, or would you be willing, even like to, play in that size game. I think that while it could take a while, it lets you use 2, maybe 3 BIG characters without seriously hindering your numbers.

I'd love to play a 1000 point GC force. I'd be able to really use everything for the army. I'd need to get another 6 Dunedain, but that is no big deal. I have everything else necessary. It would obviously require a day to do so. That kind of game takes 4 hours or more to finish.

This is assuming the game would be 1v1.

Yes, 1 on 1. For the 6 dunedain, I know the Bunker has at least 2 blisters of the dunedain (3 in each). They're behind a Rangers of the North blister (brown backing). We can't reorder those blisters. just fyi.

1k would allow me to do a themed list as well that I'd love to try out. and let me use the major characters that I'd want to throw in.

For those two blisters it's $24 + tax. I would probably get another Guardians of the Shire box for 25 and get the extra model that I traded away last time.

That makes sense if you traded Gildor away then. I thought you still had him.

Nope, traded him immediately to toadhall for Arathorn. We're getting off topic though.

For me 1K points. It allows just about any force to "go all out" with their big bad nasties / heroes etc...

The White Fist Isengard is over a 1K strong. Your right you need a lot of time over 4 hours.

I can play around 1000 with Mordor, but that's with Sauron thrown in there.

I can field 1K points of Mordor w/o Sauron :P. I can also field well over 1K points of dwarves. Darn near 1K in Goblins and darn near 1K in Wood Elves.

I could do 1k+ Grey Company and 1k+ Moria. With a little effort I could put together 1000 points (with allies) of Isengard and Angmar.

I voted for 600-699 but in reality, I'd play a 700pt game. I don't think I'd want to go much bigger than that right now in the interest of time.

I've played several 1,700 pts per side games for the express purpose of using our big heros. We took about four hours each time so far. There's always a ton of stuff to do ahead of time but the better prepared the smoother the game goes.

Heck I could throw just the Grey Company with Arathorn, Aragorn, Halbarad (banner)m and the twins and you are already over 1,000. Pull out Arathorn and throw in legolas and Gimli and the Army of the Undead and you've got the makings of the storming of Pelagir (sp?).

The point is, it doesn't take much to go from 700pts to double that with just a few heros/monsters.

Very true for Hero heavy armies. However, for many other army lists, you'd need dozens more models to go from 700 to 1000!

I guess it depends on the force. Going from 700 to 1000 allows for the addition of some cool models you might not normally use that eat up chunks of points: Dragons, Siege Weapons, Balrog, Sauron, Elessar, Gandalf TW, Eagles, Ents etc... So your base "bulk" force of 700 models can be fleshed out by adding maybe another 10+ models or 1 model, depends.
