Warhammer Ancients Battles (WAB) Bring and Battle | Mixer | Swap Meet
When: Noon-? Friday, January 27th 2012
Where: In conjunction with the awesome Waaagh!paca GT; Waupaca Ale House
201 Foxfire Drive, Waupaca, WI 54981
USA
Entry Fee: Free!

Okay, just what is a Bring and Battle | Mixer | Swap Meet?
I will arrange opponents for a series of rounds with a game scenario (IAW the schedule below) so you can get some WAB games in, meet some new opponents, and have a little WABish fun. At the end of the evening we will have a Swap Meet (you bring that WAB crap you will never use to sell|trade) where you can get rid of those 25 Archers you don’t need or may get that last Knight model you were looking for.

This is not intended to be a tournament; themed and balanced armies are highly encouraged (at least one scenario will address this…just saying)

Good Sportsmanship will be the rule of the day. This doesn’t mean be a freakin’ pansy, just don’t be a tool…

Do I have to attend|play in the Waaagh!paca to join the WAB fun on Friday Night?
No, but it is encouraged if you play WHFB also to join-in the Weekend fun.

General Rules
· WAB 2nd Edition, including the online FAQ.
· Have an armylist prepared to hand to your opponent(s)
· Armies allowed:

Dark Ages:Fall of the West, Shieldwall, El Cid, Beyond the Golden Gate, Age of Arthur

Classical: Alexander the Great, Hannibal and the Punic Wars, Spartacus, Romans & Barbarians from the 2nd Edition Rules set, Greeks and Persians.

Open: Armies of Chivalry, Art of War, Vlad the Impaler, Chariot Wars, Samurai/ Crusaders (WAB 1.5)

Scale: 25/28 mm, painted to a minimum 3 colors preferred but not required (we are, after all trying to get people to play WAB)

Table Sizes: 6’x4’
· Terrain will be preset on the tables.

Army Size: Armies maximum of 1750 points, including all generals/characters.

Generals: Your army must include an army General. If you do not purchase a general, one model must be designated the army general for victory point purposes.

Limitations: None, but remember you may get yours with a scenario or two, plus remember, THIS IS NOT A TOURNAMENT.

WYSIWYG in full effect…

Games: There will be 3 rounds.

Game Length: Round time limit, 6 to 7 turns (per scenario), or 25% break point, whichever comes first.

Rules Disputes:
Okay, I am not the “Joe Rogers” of WAB and know every rule in and out like a demented demagogue. Combine that with the fact the rules were written by European drunks, we will have rule issues.

You will work out rules disputes by:
1. Look it up
2. That fails, roll off and deal with it

Remember the Old Coot’s law of Warhammer Rule Disputes:
“The time it takes to decide a rule dispute is reversely proportional to the actual effect on the game.” In other words, the more bitching and time that is wasted on a rule dispute, the more likely it will have no effect on the game in any way…just saying.

Schedule
Doors Open: 11:00 am (this may change, I will update as required)
Round One: 12:00 to 2:30pm
Break [Beer]: 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm
Round Two: 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Raffle| WAB Swap Meet | Open Gaming: 9:00 pm

Rewards [not “Awards”]

1. Play some WAB, is that not the best reward you can get?

2. Raffle Prize [For you more mercenary in nature]
You will get a raffle ticket for each game you play on Friday and for each Waaagh!paca charity raffle ticket you buy on Friday. We will have a raffle at the end the night.
Prize will be a custom army accessory built and primered/ready for you to paint for any WAB army you chose, by yours truly. This could be an objective marker|Turn Marker|Dice Holder|You name it. I will work out the details with the winner.

How do I sign up for this fantastic soirée?

Send me a PM or email to mikebutcher@charter.net

I need to know:
What army you are bringing
What round(s) you want to play in.
Who you are riding with/regularly play against (So you don’t play them, unless you want to call them out…)
If you want to issue a challenge/call somebody out (BTW, this includes calling out the old coot who happens to be the 2X reigning Adepticon WAB Champ, which would be me…).

Update 13 Jan 12

The new Armies of Antiquity book (AoA)

You can bring an army created out of the new AoA book if you so desire. AoA armies will have maximum point limit of 2450 points. Email/Pm me with any questions, etc.
