wab 2.0 and older army books

Postby Lordgoober » Fri Aug 05, 2011 10:50 pm

I am at gencon and just got a batch of 8 of the WAB army books for $42 in the auction.

They are

El Cid
Armies of Antiquity
Byzantium
Spartacus
Vlad the Impaler
Fall of the West
The Art of War
Shieldwall

Which of these books are applicable for use with WAB 2.0?

Supposedly they are all still usable. They have not added any new army books yet.
You start out with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before emptying the bag of luck.

That's a great deal - each one of those goes for about $30... and you have to order from the UK.

All of the lists are still good to play in WAB2. There is an errata to smooth out any rules issues from V1 to V2 http://warhammer-historical.com/PDF/WAB2superrata.pdf Most are minor, the only major point of confusion is the change to the warbands rules.

Does this mean your going to be playing ancients now?

Yes it is. I've always been thinking about it but never really got the chance. Now I need to get my hands on the main rulebook on the relative cheap.

Actually, Armies of Antiquity is no longer usable in most tournies.

Only the surviving AoA lists in 1.5 were usable and that is really a limbo question now. Rich allowed them last year- but in general I feel they have fallen out of favor- i.e. Samurai, Crusaders, Han... or been replaced like the Roman and Barbarian lists in 2.0

That said, that is an awesome deal!-
a good selection to choose from!
