The Road to AdeptiCon: Battle at Little Big Horn Style

Reading Matt's post about time crunch getting his figs in to paint, I decided I would share my progress on getting the two forces ready for the LotOW game I'm running in two slots (Friday at 1300 and Sunday at 0730).

The forces, as they sit now, comprise 144 figures (counting mounted models as 2 figures). Each mounted model needs a dismounted version in case his horse gets shot out from under him.

Both the Native American side and the US Cavalry side have two forces each...as they currently sit. We need to do another couple of play tests to be sure I have it right, but to start I've gone with the points costs Mark Latham lists in The Last Stand scenario in Frontier: Blood on the Plains.

The first Native American force has Crazy Horse with 12 other mounted models plus 18 dismounted warriors. The second has a "Wicasa", or shirt wearer (minus his leader skill) plus 12 other mounted models. The US Cav features "ol' Long Hair" and 11 troopers on "Last Stand Hill", while CPT Benteen leads 11 other mounted troopers on the "rescue" mission.

I started on the Native American forces first because a) there's a bunch more there to paint and b) I've always found the Native American Foundry figures to be very characterful and they just look like fun to paint!

So far, I've not been disappointed!

I love this one with his coup stick ready to "make coup".

With 61 days to go now, I have 45 figures finished...only 99 to go!

The pictures aren't the best...guess I need to take Dave's Class at AC '11! But I think these pics get the point across. I'll post some more...especially once I get started on General Custer and the US Cav.

This does look great!
So is that 7:30 am on Sunday, or evening?

Got the doubles to worry about, but otherwise I should sign up!

Thanks for the comments guys! 8)

0730 Sunday morning Aaron. My potential WAB doubles partners are either playing in the FoW Nationals, WFB or aren't going to make it this year. So, I figured I'd run the LBH game on Sunday am too. :)
