40k Kill Team

Postby BrentS » Sun Dec 22, 2013 11:24 am

I haven't been following the news for 40k for a while, quite frankly, the price of the GW models have pushed me to lookmat some other things, especially skirmish games... Then I got an email this morning mentioning 40k Kill Team rules. I can't seem to find these on the GW website. Can anyine who has been following the news cycle on this fill me in on this? Looks like a small/squad based skirmish games?

The older rules were available online, it's likely they took them down so they could charge for the downloads. They also had deathwatch which was a forerunner of kill team.

Older version: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_Cus ... 2013.4.pdf

I don't know what the new download features, it mentions new scenarios but not sure if they changed the core rules or not. I'll probably buy the download later tonight.

I've been looking to try out kill team stuff for a while if anyone is interested in a game.

New format, new missions, new rules.

Some similar bits, where you have a leader and three specialists, but otherwise very different from before. Quite fun!

So far we've determined that a Grey Knight strike squad with psybolt ammo is immensely strong (9 models w/2 shots at 24" and S5), but they can be taken down by a 10 man scout squad with snipers, cloaks, and Telion. A Plague Marine squad with 2 plasma guns is killy and durable as well.

Amusingly, the rules will allow you to take a KT of Plague Drones (4), but for some reason Nurglings are considered OP by comparison and you can't take them. :P
