Magnetic Gaming Table

Postby dweir2 » Tue May 28, 2013 7:44 pm

Hi everyone,

Just saw this on Kickstarter. ... miniatures Someone tried to do a magnetic table a while back, but it damaged electronics. This table has a metal core so it doesn't actually affect anything, but magnets will stick to it. Really cool idea.

I stop my miniatures from falling over on the table by gluing weights under their bases. At $.04 per washer (or $.05/nickel), it's a lot cheaper than $100 for a 4x4 table section.

I think there's also some kickstarter fatigue going on. Secret Weapon just did theirs and a lot of people who wanted table sections took part in that. Might be bad timing on this one.

I have nearly all of my models magnetized already so they don't scramble in my toolboxes during transport. But having tug them off and on a table for a whole game would be a pain in the neck, and potentially not great for the models as the magnets are super strong neodymium ones. So I would stick with a normal table for gameplay.
