The Battle for Lombardius Prime

Discussion concerning the latest version of the Epic 40K game system.

The Battle for Lombardius Prime

Postby Shaggrudd Dethblasta » Fri Apr 02, 2010 12:11 pm

On June 5th the Specialist Games Club will be playing the largest game of the Warhammer 40,000 universe ever done in the United States. It will not be a game of 40k. It will not be a game of Apocalypse. Those games could never do a game of this scale.

It will be of Epic Armageddon.

Why is it the largest? Most of the Ultramarines Chapter and Bloodangels chapter will be present for the game. Elements of 6 or more Imperial Guard regiments will be fighting. Warlord Shaggrudd Dethblasta will have his warhoarde which includes gargants, great gargants and a mega gargant. There will be elements of a titan legion fighting as well. There will be hoards of troops on both sides for the defense of the Imperium or the glory of battle.

But it doesn't end there. Space craft will be in orbit making orbital bombardments. There will be ork Teleporta attacks of a scale not seen before by the Imperium. It will be a desperate battle for both sides. No one will know the outcome.

It is a battle you will want to see whether you play Epic or not. The game will have about 40,000 to 45,000 points of miniature in play and all of them will be fully assembled and painted.

If you want to see a battle the likes of which you read about in the books and would love to see in miniature, come out to see the battle of Lombardius Prime.

Largest ever played in the US? Gutsy statement. I like it.

10,000 points of Blood Angels and my table at the ready.

It's also the day after my birthday - so someone bring me a couple of Chaos Titans!

I have a question, is Lombardius Prime the planet where they are cloning that damn Vince Lombardi, or is it just where they make the trophies?
It doesn't matter either way it needs to be destroyed.

John, Lombardius Prime was named after Lombard IL, not Vince Lombardi, but I actually like the connection to the greatest football coach of all time- a Packer coach, not a Bears coach.......of course, if we were to name the city after Ditka the orks wouldn't stand a chance. I could see it now, "Ok, we got 40,000 points of orks vs Ditka. Ditka by tree"

In all seriousness, we need to get going on wrapping up loose ends. I would like to have no less than 5 thunderhawks painted up. John, get your titans done. Joe, keep on working on your orks. I have to get a warband, some imperial tanks, and stompas painted. Nat you know what you need to do. We can get it done. Besides it's something like this that gets you to work on your minis and get them painted. It worked that way with my Americans and Adepticon.

Lets make this the best game people have ever seen. Yes, people have seen some great tables done by GW or clubs that made them say "Wow!", we will have a great table too with Matt's city table. They have also seen some beautifully painted minis too on those tables. 6mm minis are difficult to do to that standard, but they will look good. The differance will be the scope of the conflict they will see. That is something 40k and Apocalypse can't do. That is our "Wow" factor. People will truely see a battle before them on the tables. They will see, probably for the first time, the magnitude of conflict that is the Warhammer 40,0000 Universe. Like I always say, 40k is the trailer to the movie, the movie is Epic. There is nothing wrong with 40k. It is the game that gets us hooked, but lets be real, Epic is where it's at. Lets get those who come to see the game being played see Epic the way we do and understand why we love it the way we do. If we do that, we may get some new players to join us.

I've got 3 T-Hawks done up in a "stealth" Ultramarines color scheme. IE black main body with trims and stuff done in Ultramarines blue.

Also chad, if we can get some weapon arms scrounged up from somewhere, I just got 3 regular gargants and a mekboy gargant. The mekboy gargant is complete, the regular gargants have no weapon arms. I also got a full stompamob that is painted up. You going to be by the bunker today? I can show you what I got from the guy down in pontiac, who may very well be swinging up here to take a look at the game.

I think I can commit 4 Blood Angels Thunderhawks. I have a few Space Wolf ones too if needed.

No brick thawks only the cool ones. Matt, would love the blood angel ones and the wolves ones too if someone has wolves.

I got 3-5K of painted Space Wolves and Guard if we need them.

Two of my Thunderhawks are those fancy FW AI ones...I still need to assemble one, but I will make it top priority.

Chad - I know we talked about this briefly at the con - but it escapes me - how many points of Marines should I shoot for to protect the airbase?

I'll put a defense force list together - no titans or flyers other than those Thunderhawks.

Just to double check, you have enough Steel Legion, yes? It's just my Baran and Orks that you need?

Nat, you are correct.

Matt, figure around 6000 - 7000 points. Don't figure in the t-hawks with that point total. We may need your whole 10,000.

What are we going to need from my Smurfmarines so I know what I need to touch up (basically if we need predators or vindicators and my dreads are now sold.)
