Eight beers and the two-step

Discussion concerning the latest version of the Epic 40K game system.

Eight beers and the two-step

Postby Shaggrudd Dethblasta » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:39 pm

Hello everyone and welcome to my announcement of our next meeting of the Epic club that is part of the Specialist Games Club. Earlier I was at the Bunker and realized that while not everyone meets for our Thursday gaming night, because of schedules, commitments or family, all told we have I believe around twenty members and it is steadily growing. That is exciting as this is a group that I truly believe will continue to grow. The staff at the Bunker sees it and that's why their manager, Dan, told me that he'll support us.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday and getting in a game. Too bad JD can't make it out on Thursdays as I'd like to go at it again; we started a game with Nat on Saturday, 6000pts, that we had to pack up after the first turn because we ran out of time. It was turning out to be a really good game. That's one of the cool things starting to happen- fans of Epic are now able to post and get a game in just like the core games.

So, with all that said, if you are looking to get back into Epic, or are curious about it and want to know what all this excitement is all about, come out and join us. To try it out, you don't need an army, you can use one of ours. Trust me, we don't mind it, in fact, we encourage it. You will have a lot of fun and meet some players who are fanatical about Epic, but in a good way.

Play the game 40k wishes it could be, play Epic!

Wish I could make it this Thursday. I really had a good time Sat., even if we were "last-called" prior to you bringing the pain round 2. Either way, anyone even a little interested should check out Th. night. The core mechanics of the game are easily learned and the veterans involved with the club are accesible and always up for a game.
I hope to meet up at least once more prior to Adepticon for some games so see you Gents soon.

I think I'm going to give the official version of the Lost and the Damned a try this Thursday. Anyone up for a 5-6k game of epic that night? If we start at 5-5:30 pm we should be able to pull it off.

Too bad you didn't get pictures of the hill with all my units on it.

You mean at the end of T1? Where you had a mechanized Big Warband, a 'Uge KoS, and a 'Uge Blitz Brigade facing down JD's footsloggers and RHQ? That was gonna get ugly. Fast.

I actually have some good shots of the impending wall of fury about to descend on my boys as well as Dethblasta's set-up on the hill. As soon as I figure out how to post photos not from my computer, I will (any help appreciated, Spectrar shoot me a pm; I'm a noob @ this stuff.) Regardless, will be back for more!

After a 5 years I am looking to get back into Epic. I have a pretty good selection of IG as well as Marines. I hope to be able to come up and play on some Thursday nights. What points values are typicly played? I can put together a couple of lists for pretty much any points totals.

Okay, I want to cover all the bases with you so I hopefully answer all your questions so please bear with me if I tell you stuff you already know.

We typically get there between 4-6pm. Points are based on whoever you are able to get a game with, but 2k-5k is typical. If you want to play a certain size game, it is best to post ahead of time to "guarantee" yourself the size game you really want to play.

If weekends work better for you, again just post a certain sized game, what day and time and you should get yourself a game.

Officially we meet every other Thursday, but by posting you will most likely get a game anytime.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. This is true no matter what specialist game you may ask about. If I don't know the answer, I know who to ask. I am the head of the Specialist Games Club out of the Bunker. My name is Chad Kimmell. Welcome aboard!

3k is the standard tourney size. As Chad says, E:A lists are balanced for between 2k-5k, though larger games are a ton of fun too. Hope to see you tommorrow.
