Discussion concerning the latest version of the Epic 40K game system.

Postby Spectrar Ghost » Thu Jan 05, 2012 7:37 am

Yeah, there's some venom about that. I (as someone who's not invested in it yet) have to agree with the people who are saying don't sweat it too much. It'll arrive; we as a society are too invested in instant gratificatiion. At this point I'd be checking my mail every day in anticipation, but I've had packages take that long to arrive from Britian that weren't preorders, just very tardy.

I hear you about instant gratification. You should know that is not me. I realize companies dont always make the dates they say they will. Lots of reasons for that. I get most of them. I can wait.

What made me so mad was the total lack of communication about what was going on with the realsese. I dont even mean they should send me a personal email or call saying that they are so very sorry about it and here is a bunch of free stuff to make you happy.

There was nothing officially stated anywhere until the U.S. started not getting the books when the rest of the world had thiers. Then they come back with the lame a** excuse that basically stated that we did not anticipate the demand and the printers f***ed us and that it is everybody elses fault and not ours. Please keep buying our stuff while we sort it out. Not going to happen.

I did shoot them an email today finally to see where in the process my order was. we will see how long the response will take. It was polite, no use ticking them off when they have my money and my book. . I just wont preorder anything else from them thatsw all.

I did order stuff from Warhammer HIstoricals when the half off sale started. Took 2 weeks to get, not too shabby from England I thought.

Sorry for the rant, im just very mad right now. Sorry to hijack your thread,

Move along nothing to see here

No worries, that was positively tame compared to some of the posts on the Mongoose forum! Lack of communication can be very frustrating.

I burned my "get out of jail free" anniversery coupon on 500 points of Warmaster Skaven. Once it's ready I'll be able to get 2k fielded. Of course that means I'll want to get it done by Adepticon. And that means I have two armies to complete... sigh.

Nat, you and your rats. Personally, I'd take the dark elves. They're more versatile.

Versitility counts as nothing next to the teeming hordes of the Great Horned One, lord of thirteen.

A bit burnt on Vanaheim, and I've not had an opportunity to whip out the airbrush and basecoat Skaven, so I filled in some odds and ends.

Minervan Tank Destroyers (EW Tridents). Only the turrets are new paint.

Cadian Stormlord. First of two, but my Catachan Green's trashed and needs replacing. Probably going to stock up on this and a few other colors I use a lot while I can.

Last update today. I promise.

Lsrwolf's Grand Eldar Blowout has got me thinking about revamping my first Epic army. I have just about 12k of Eldar, but haven't used them ina long time. Most of this is my continuing fascination with my Guard, who now outnumber my Eldar two to one in points. Part of it is that the Eldar I've painted were all painted something like five years ago. They followed the colors my 40k Eldar used, which were black with metallic blue tops and grey bottoms. They seem underwhelming to me now. So, in the spirit of experiment, I went about painting up a Wave Serpent in colors that match the more recent 40k Eldar I have - orange with blue chevrons/stripes on top and bone bottom.

Image
This is what I ended up with.

Image
Compared to my old paint scheme.

Image
WIth his big brother, an old Fire Prism with the FW Type II upgrade kit.

Now the 40k tank is white basecoat with Blazing Orange and Hawk Turquiose. I think the bone is Kommando Khaki with Devlan Mud. The Epic was already basecoated black, so I chose Macharius Orange and Mordian Blue, and the bone is Dheneb Stone with Devlan. Both are Space Wolves Grey canopies. The orange is very dirty on the Epic, part of that is Macharius is a more earthy tone than Blazing Orange, and part of that is the basecoat.

Is it worth repainting to this new scheme as a long term project? If I do I'll probably also make the effort to allow my Eldar to take the field as Biel Tan, Iyanden and Yme-Loc (which they are already able to do), but also add a Saim Hann contingent.

Just paint them with large crosshairs on them! About your rats, don't forget about three groups your army will be in.

Another day, another tank. After spending more time than I care to think about rejuvenating my paints, I painted a Shadowsword.

With his cousin.

Also painted all 23 of my remaining flying bases for my Vanaheim. That's that out of the way; I can varnish and add clump foliange, and forget about them.

Got some Super Clean today. Will probably throw some Eldar in tonight so I can get stripping tomorrow after the kid's at school. The wife will be out too, maybe I can pull out the airbrush and basecoat some stuff as well.

Infantry test.

Switched out the Ogryn Flesh Wash in the Wave Serpent Orange for Baal Red. Much richer and cleaner color. Basing will be the same as Vanaheim, except possibly different foliage.

Also decided to revamp my flying bases from bits of paperclip or dressmaking pin to brass rod, and lowered them significantly. The Wave Serpent's on a redone one, you can see the difference.

Just letting all you adoring fans (yeah, right  ) know I still live.

I'm in a bit of a hobby rut, but hopefully that will change with the return of the sun. I'm still progressing ever-so-slowly on my Vanaheim and half dozen other projects.

Other than that, not much going on.
