Epic Campaign

Postby Shaggrudd Dethblasta » Sun Nov 29, 2009 10:32 am

Donated to me for the club was two sets of the Mighty Empires sets. Would people be interested in a Epic campaign? I would need some help getting them painted up. Anyone want to play in a campaign?

If we can find a good campaign system I would be in. My arty is getting spiderwebs.
You start out with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before emptying the bag of luck.

Again, I ask if there would be a group interested in a campaign?

I would also be willing to donate any of my ME tiles, as well as any of the set of Planetary Empires tiles I own. (no hive tile, sorry) Would we be playing a single planet campaign, or a linked BFG/Epic Campaign over multiple planets? I've heard some pretty cool ideas for the second.

Between the 4 sets, we have enough tiles for 10 planets with a radius of three tiles, but only enough spaceports for 6.

First, I need to find out how many players are serious about the campaign. This will give me an idea of just how big we want to go. I am imagining that for those in the campaign the Thursday meeting to game will be largely for the campaign. Campaign rules will need to be generated. Dave and I came up with some great ideas.

Another idea I've been kicking around is a multi player multi table game on a Saturday. I truly believe we would attract people to epic of we did. The type of game I'm thinking is one like the water processing plant scenario they have in the book. Again it is an idea, but one that I think rocks. What do you guys think?

I think increasing the visibility of Specialist Games is always a plus. A multitable game every quarter or so would be a great way to attract new players on a regular basis. We can see if Duck can get us a high traffic spot in the front of the shop.

*Rant Alert*
That way, we can change the respons I yesterday at the Assessment center, that Specialist Games would essentialy never be supported more than it is now, as it was "less than 1% of sales." Well, duh. You mean if you cut virtually all support for a group of systems, stop carrying them in stores, and generally make it difficult to get into, the games do poorly? Sorry, but that response, while true as it goes, ticked me off. I'd just like to show what a properly supported SG community can bring to the table.
*End Rant*

That being said. one of the guys I'm doing a bartertown deal with (getting a bunch of beastman stands from him) is going to be at adepticon and wants to do a HUGE game the day before. Huge as in my whole case of Smurfmarines will probably see the field.

Thats allot of smurfs. Also I would like to participate in a campaign. I think we should try to embarrass GW into carrying SG stuff at the bunker again by showing up in numbers on a consistent basis.

Ultimately, it won't happen. One well organized community won't change corporate policy. Especially with the likes of the European communities (EpicUK, EpicFrance) unable to do so. But we can have fun with our inability. :) And that's what matters.

I'm afraid Nat is right. GW has never listened to the customer and always done what it wants whether it was a good idea or not. Makes me wonder if GW is secretly ran by women. It would explain a lot.
