Question is, if they are a piece of wargear can they? They count as part of the unit.

What does the rule say.

I will look at the book again tonight, but I believe in the new codex the drones auto pass look out sir rules for their owner. I have been reading through the book since Saturday and I don't have it memorized, but that's something that stick in my mind for some reason. So don't get your panties in a bunch for not reciting it exactly word for word.

Only models with the "Sworn Protector rule" auto pass look out sir. Stealth Shas'ui and Shar'vre when paired with Commander Shadowsun. I have yet to find any other situation inwhich this applies.

Concerning the original question, consider this from PP33
"Drones taken as upgrades for a unit act as additional squad members in all regards"

so, im going with yes ,unless someone can present evidence to the contrary.

There's the rule in question. Helps immensely. ;)

Yep, Drones can take wounds for LO,S! as normal, provided they are within 6" of the Character, as normal.
