maximum range and casualtiy removal

Postby brendan » Sat Aug 18, 2012 9:13 pm

is it possible to kill models that are outside of the maximum range of your shooting weapon?

i.e. can a plasma gun that rapid fire kill a model further than 12 inches away?

thanks,

I believe weapon range is used to determine if you can make the initial shot and there is no range for casualty removal. This prevents a person from sniping certain models out of a unit. The relevant rules are below.

Page 16 at the top.

Out of range

As long as a model was in range of the enemy when to hit rolls were made, he is considered to be in range for the duration of the shooting attack, even if the removal of casualties means that the closest model now lies out of range.

thanks for the feedback fred.

when I read that i felt like it meant if I'm firing a lascanon and a multimelta and both wound that the multi melta couldn't be robbed of the wound because the lascanon had a model removed first. but that the maximum range of the multimelta was still 24 inches.
