Blasts and Template Wounding

Postby Lord Krungharr » Fri Jul 20, 2012 11:17 pm

For Ballistic Skill shooting the guys closest to the unit shooting at them take the first saves/wounds. But for blast/template shooting, does the owning player apply wounds to only the models hit by the templates/pieplates? Or still take saves and wound from the closest to the source of the templates/pieplates?

Finally figured out that there's no more half-strength no-hole blast hits anymore, should be seeing some more Vindicators and Defilers out there now :P

closest still applies, the exception is indirect templatey shooting. It's a bit different you treat the center hole as the closest

I noted in the book that all blast template weapons and mutiple blast template weapons (p.33-34). Unless its indirect or a barrage weapon its aleways front to back like normal shooting. (this is for my eldar playing freinds) This is too include Tempest launchers (not a barrage weapon) when firing direct line of sight firing. Damage is applied front row to back for the multi templeted weapons in non-indirect shots.

Oh lastly as per the same area the inner circle has to be WHOLY over a base of a enemy figure not partially. This is explained clearly in the book in the same location.

Oh Tom, your answers are always entertaining.

This is too include Tempest launchers (not a barrage weapon)
The Tempest Launcher is a barrage weapon.

Oh lastly as per the same area the inner circle has to be WHOLY over a base of a enemy figure not partially.
This has always been the case, nothing has changed.

To answer the original questions:

1. All shooting casualties, except from Barrage weapons, comes from the closest model(s) to the shooter.

2. Casualties from Barrage weapons come from the closest model(s) to the point of impact. It's just like cover negation :D. And no half-strength shots is GREAT.
