Another Stupid Rules Question

Postby GregSwanson » Tue Apr 17, 2012 9:30 pm

Can a unit with a dedicated transport deep strike rather than coming in with their transport. For example a unit of ten grey knight strikes with a razorback. Can they reserve and come in with deep strike while the razor drives on? Could the unit start the rhino on the board and come on from reserve?
Also even a dumber question. Can a unit with a transport already like a rhino start the game in a land raider?

Yes to both questions. Nothing requires a unit to be in its Dedicated Transport; however, only that unit can start in that Transport at the beginning of the game or when coming on from Reserves.

For the first, you simply declare how your Reserves are being organized. Just say that the transport is rolling on and the unit is deep striking.

For the second, well:

Q: Can a unit start the game embarked in a nondedicated transport vehicle? (p92)
A: Yes, as long as its unit type is allowed to embark
onto that vehicle and it does not exceed the transport
capacity. (BRB FAQ, p7)

Again, simply state that the unit will be starting in the Land Raider/etc instead of their Dedicated Transport, and remember nothing else can start in their Transport.
