Entropic Strike

Postby appleton_cop » Sat Dec 03, 2011 4:31 pm

How bout this Necron foolishness? Does the entropic strike happen before any "hits" are resolved?? By this I mean, Scarabs hit a tank brining rear armor down to 5. Then D6 + 3 giving the scarabs a bunch of penetrating hits?

The rule as written seems to hint at the AV value going down first. Or, (which would make more sense) a second round of combat vs. the weakened vehicle would then see the scarabes strike at the rear armour?

What has everyone else been seeing with this?

"For each hit a vehicle suffers...it immediately loses 1 point of Armor value..."

Pretty clear it happens immediately after the hit and before the Armor Penetration roll.

You can combine a 10 man scarab unit with 9 tomb spiders. Those spiders will add 9 scarabs a turn to the original unit of 10 and in 2 turns you have 28 scarabs in a single unit.

If you have the right tools in your list you can knock them out quickly, otherwise they can be a big problem for one dimensional lists.

Are these Scarabs of the swarms special rule? If so, one could probably take out a 10 base unit of those things with a good Battle Cannon hit; if you get 5 wounds, it would count as 10 wounds, and with the Instant Death factor for double their toughness.

Scarabs do disapear fast to a lot of heavy flamers. When you have tomb spiders, though, it is difficult to eliminate them altogether.

I do look forward to playing the new Necrons, they have a bunch of neat looking skimmers now. Sounds like they'll be more of a challenge to play too.

looks are cool. but having all sorts of trouble right now figuring out how to use them.

My biggest issue so far is the 5th ed use of cover. I cant get a clean shot with the doom arcs. Too much melta to knock out big weapons and I2 yikes troops drop like flys.

The arcs are very cool and not that hard to put together. cant wait for the flyers.
