No commentsDevelopment of a Portable Campaign Map: The Finished Map
When I first conceived of this project it felt like it was going to be very ambitious. As it turned out it wasn’t a great deal of work. The amount of work was equivalent to modeling bases for a 1850 point 40k army or a 2000 point Fantasy army.

Hit the jump for the rest of the details!
No commentsDevelopment of a Flexible, Portable Campaign Map (Part 1)
Here’s a fun experiment for everyone to try. Tell your wife or girlfriend that you’re going to run a wargaming campaign out of your home. You’ll need to put a big map of an alien planet on the wall for a few months. Every week or so all of your friends will come over and roll handfuls of dice for 6 hours to determine who gets to move their little flags around on said map.
If the aforementioned wife or girlfriend reacts well to this news; consider yourself a lucky man! If not, this project may be right up your alley!
The goal of this project is to build a hex-based campaign map with detailed terrain that can be folded up and put away (or transported to someone else’s house) easily and without having to disassemble the map itself.
No commentsAll Factory Skimmers half off!
I realized that I just don’t get enough Tau. When you play a Toughness 3 army like mine you just need more Strength 5 weaponry pointed at you. Luckily for me, the Tau can provide that. This time it was Steve who volunteers to blow my army away. We roll for loot goodies and since we get Alpha it actually makes it worthwhile to try for the 5 counters. NOTE: the first 3 diagrams do NOT display the loot counters because I was pretty drunk when I started working on this. Sure, I could go back and fix the pictures…but it ain’t gonna happen.

Imperial Guard- King of Kings Battle Report
As most people know the Imperial Guard is the army of kings. This is why Phil and I decided to get in some guard on guard action because surely if one guard force is kingly then two guard forces is ….uh very good too. We talked about it the week before and decided to play a 2000 point game with the forces tailored for the opponent. Nothing will be considered cheese baby! Forget about plasma. Grenade launchers are good enough! Heavy Bolters? Oh yeah! We’ll need plenty of them.

Ruin Stone Terrain
… an alter to gods long forgotten falls to ruin.

The Ruin Stone uses etched plaster stones on an MDF base topped with a variety of static grass/flocking.

Last year our gaming group The Untouchables attended our first 40k Team Tournament event at Adepticon 2006. In preparation for the event we built a basic display board for our army using a Hirst Arts block kit. The following is an overview of the building and painting process.

No commentsThe Return of Adeptus Windy City!
We have returned! Adeptus Windy City has recently undergone a major redesign. In essence we are starting over - attempting to make the site more functional to all users. Over the next few weeks we will be ironing out all the finer details of the site, adding content, reclaiming past content and figuring out the direction the site will take in the months to come. We ask that you have patience with us during this process - we are just as excited to get this rolling as you.
The new site does not require you to create an account, login or anything of that nature - save for posting on the forums. Certain articles and news items will allow the posting of comments if you provide a a name and e-mail address. Please do not abuse this feature, it is a great way to keep the site interactive and organic.
Welcome to Adeptus Windy City v3.0!
